Only on Sunday did we all, 8 of us, sit at the table together
Only thing was we were not allowed to talk,
Big mistake as it created too much tension.
One of us kids would kick another under the table or pretend to laugh
I was sent upstairs a lot of times, okay so I often started it all, sometimes send up with my food but at times no food allowed
To show my day I did not care, I started to sing, the latest hits, church songs. you name it
After a while I wondered what I was doing upstairs so went still singing down the stairs
Dad told me later that he did not have the heart to send me back upstairs.

Amazing people wave wave wave
Violet Jessop Miclee did the lady die of old age or? wave wave wave
Violet died in 1971 aged 83, as I recall.

Another story.
Violet related that some while after retiring - 1960s - she got a telephone call & the caller asked if someone handed her a baby when she was in a lifeboat about to be lowered from the Titanic.
Violet confirmed that she'd been given a baby.
The caller replied, "I'M that baby." And hung up.
dunno

cowboy
Apparently Miss Jessop was quite a looker...

"When Jessop was 16 years old, her father died due to complications from surgery and her family moved to England, where she attended a convent school and cared for her youngest sister while her mother was at sea working as a stewardess. When her mother became ill, Jessop left school and, following in her mother's footsteps, applied to be a stewardess. Jessop had to dress down to make herself less attractive in order to be hired. At age 21, her first stewardess position was with the Royal Mail Line aboard the Orinoco in 1908. "
love
