Health, yes, but how about mental health?

The opportunity for expression of thoughts on CS is a blessing, and the cyber scrutinizers at CS have been quite broad in thinking what is acceptable. We see all sorts of political, social, cultural, personal and other musings, and responses can be enlightening, supportive, critical, informative, corrective, and much more. Of course, these free sites are not always a love fest of sound mental health. It doesn't take specialized training to appreciate this, but I suspect some with such experience will see health, thankfully, in most places, but sadly, the serious absence of such, in others. We don't need to get personal here, but to just mention experiences, if relevant. Humor and kindness never hurt, as well.

The Human mind Can overcome Anything Sirhandshake
Hi Aaltar,
This place is quiet now compared to a few years ago. There was a time when we had some real nasties here. Some of them are still here but most of them have mended their ways or have been subdued. You still see them from time to time with their negative comments when they don't like something, where other more level headed people simply ignore what they don't want to read.

I think the anonymous nature of on-line life give some people a false sense of security. Something like a virtual platform from where they can launch their attacks, believing that they are untouchable.

Thanks, and I agree with the (pseudo) anonymity, Cat. God, I can't imagine how it must have been back then!
I ask myslef ,what do you mean by sound mental health?
Are we talking about mental illnesses here?
And how do we define what sound mental hearth should be ?

For example some people like to to put other people down
just to give them-sleves a good feeling..

On the other side it gives me a good feeling to say Good morning or good evening to a complete stranger.
Such a wise comment, avias. If we could all learn to ignore more about us, and focus more on the world's wonders, I bet there would be less trouble in the world. Of course, sometimes an attack calls for a response. But usually only silly pride is involved.
I think sites like this one are magnets for people who are a bit funny in the head. People in real life avoid them so they use social sites to get the attention they can't get in the real world. dunno
Funny in the Head is exactly the sort of comment /saying that makes people with Depression/Psycosis and those on the margins of life feel even more alienated. Anyone can become mentally ill so don't mock. Mental stability to me is one of compassion for all people and an understanding that many people werenot born mentally ill, but had dreadful abusive childhoods, or trauma or simply have problems in the neurons and wiring of the Brain, eitherway it is painful and so much ignorance and fear around it. Alot of people who think they are above those on this site but yet stay on it for years..... mmmmmmm
