Ever been 'Ghosted'?

Have you ever been dating and getting pretty serious with someone when......they disappear off the face of the earth without a trace for no reason whatsoever? You guys have been planning a future, mostly enthused and initiated by him and then, they Ghost you, no rhyme or reason, no rows or fall outs or signs of any kind? You may get a text or whatsapp 'Sorry but I dont want a relationship anymore, need space' sorta thing.....This is apparently a relatively new phenomenon in breaking up..............the disappearing act. They go on to block you on whatsapp/facebook/social media and dont respond to any texts or contact.

Hiya Pogo, wave was this getting pretty serious with someone they met in RL or just via a dating site and other social media?

If you have been in contact for a while and met someone in RL, I think things like knowing where someone lives and works is normal. In this case ghosting wouldn't really work as someone could turn up on their doorstep.

If it's only virtual, I think not getting in too deep with someone emotionally that you have never met is a good protection.

Happens to me a lot with american women when they realise that when I said 7, I was talking cm not inches. They certainly tend to have unrealistic expectations. dunno

My daughter got ghosted and was so disappointed and she never even met him. I too got ghosted sort of not all that long ago. I was a little disappointed but no big deal in the big picture.

Been ghosted a few times on this site so it's like water off a ducks back. But I did look it up and apparently people who do it have psychological problems so yes I just think I dodged that one

ZaiJian1) I haven't been ghosted nor have I ghosted anyone. I think it is a really spineless way to either end a friendship or relationship. I do have friend who was ghosted by a long time friend. She is still wondering what she did. I told her to text and ask could they chat if there is a problem but she got no answer. Not nice. confused Why not be honest ?
