Times a changing....., yep.

CD's and audio cassettes. Home land lines. Desk top computers. On foot electric and water meter readers. Paper love letters. Human being cashiers. Lots more. Automobile salvage (recycling---"junk") yards. My latest used swedish chariot came without a roof rack. Lower priced model sans this "option", we're told. Used one all the time on previous wagons, for hauling things, including canoes and sea kayaks. Dealer wanted almost $600 to install an original Eurorack factory model. Local junk yard had identical one for $25, including all mounting hardware, if buyer removed it himself. Had to walk with a few tools down to the lower 40 (yards these days seem to be on former farm sites), avoiding the poison oak, accompanied by two friendly huge German shepherds, who normally protct premisses off hours. Real sweeties. Dogs seem to know dog lovers. Scratched their bellies as they had lain on their backs while I took a break between right and left sides of car roof. Installed easily later in under an hour at the Aa mansion garage workshop......And doctor visits lasting more than 8 minutes, her eyes never meeting yours, while she plugs your info into her (billing) ipad. Times a changing, yep. Aa.

Well, at least Dog is still mans best friend ! cheers
Yeah, N.....you should have seen big these girls. The yard owner has them trained not to be aggressive to customers. But at over 100 pounds each, when they slowly approach a visitor, even a real dog guy gets a bit antsy, truth be said. But it was clear that they were fine, and actually seemed to love joinng patrons on long walks for trips to get parts---something new to do in otherwise boring days? Aa.
a junk yard is like a candy store.
Aa,
I have a very playful medium sized dog and she has toppled me quite easily while bull charging.
I can guess quite certainly what the larger breeds are capable of doing. Good they are trained thumbs up

Masters of all they survey cheers
Dogs are sensitive and they react to so much. I'm sure my fear for dogs will either have them chasing me or keeping their distance...
Morning Aa,wave I get abit wound up very mad when the subject docters visits comes up. Last Nov ,I went in for colonostrophy, Lots of fun. I seen the so called specialist, before and after. The two visits took EXACTLY 5 minutes and 30 seconds. On the first visit I tried to ask a question, never got the chance ,the specialist walked out of the room, very mad On the second visit ,I was called in early for results because of a cancelation, (the 2 minute and 30 second visit) I had to drive 2 miles, thru a blizzard, 35 below for a 2 minute ,30 second visit. We could of done that one over the phone. Wonder what he got paid confused
I better have another coffee and calm down, rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing , before I blow a gasket and need to see another specialist, rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Back Again, wave Yes I m still wound up, Times are a changing. You mentioned vehicle repair, very mad , Have you ever noticed ,when you take a vehicle in for repairs, the main emphasis on doing the repairs is on what you re going to , and how you re going to pay for those repair. And that is done before anyone looks at the vehicle, confused So much for customer service.
And yes I d better calm down , before I have to go see that specialist for high blood pressure, rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Thanks, all. P., a good way to get over fear is to be exposed to lots of different NICE dogs, which usually means grounded owners.Often not one and the same. 1---yes, health care rackets, I call them, have degenerated to low levels indeed. But similar things happen with plumbers, roofers, electricians, and as you say, mechanics as well. And F., you must have commendable like-minded upbinging to make a comment like that. Years ago, when living in Ohio, a lady (a nurse-Judy) I worked with, on learning of my self sufficient (cheap) streak actually asked to come along with me to a junk yard for parts for my then VW wagon. It was literally a junk yard date. That must be one for the records. The story is hilarious in further detail. Aa.
