"WHEN IT COMES TO GUNS"

There Is No Answer.... When It Comes To Guns Here.... in The United States..........In Probably Would Be A Different Story..If... From The Start ....There Were No Guns To Begin With..............But They Are Here..In The USA...And Theyre Here To Stay..............Unless Of Course...You Can Kill Every Gun Owner...Because... Theres No Other Way For The Government To Take Them Away

Guns..Are A Part Of Americas Heritage
And Besides..If They Were Able To Take Away Every Single Fire Arm?
The Black Market Would Surface
And...At The Least?...Only The Bad Guys Would Have Guns
Im Not Advocating For The Ownership Of Guns....Nor ...Am I Against Having Them
There Are The Pros... And The Cons.... When It Comes To The Subject Of Guns
For Your information..I Am Not An Owner Of A Gun...I Wouldnt Want One..(As Of Yet)

But Get Used To It People... And Accept The Fact... That Guns...... Will Always Be Here

What Im Trying To Convey Is... That Its Too Late Now To Argue About Guns...Theyre Already Here

I Cant Help But Think Of That Security Guy.... Or Cop....Who...While Laying There Wounded On The Ground
Pleading For His Life....Was Shot Dead By The.... "Armed Bad Guy Terrorist"

(I Wonder.... If This Wouldve Happened)

Hi Nam. Guns is a touchy subject these days and yes they are here to stay. I have no problem with people having guns as long as they are responsible owners. My problem is with people that have assault weapons. scold
I don't mind that guns are here, or if they are here to stay...I mind that killers are here, and that they are here to stay. We have more native born killers than any other nation in the world! At least we can be proud to be great at something!

My opinion is if they ban all guns one way or another people will still get them regardless.

Nam, yes the black market will still be in business. Maybe stronger laws on the ones that are caught selling and buying. The debate on guns and laws will never end or guns being in the wrong hands.
I think that anyone who is fascinated and want to own a gun or have multiple guns are up to no good , so many times we hear on the news some innocent child , mother or father got killed by there own gun because one of there children is angry with them , angry with the world , look at the Mendes brothers and they had it all. They have this fooling saying , that guns do not kill people , people use the guns to kill . The question is why people have access to guns as though they are some special candy ? and almost everyone must have one or as many as you could collect .

I dont think people are imagining that all guns will be banned, but some sensible restrictions- like banning military assault rifles and semi automatic weapons, would be a good start. We did just that after our last mass murder, and havent had another one since then. There is a black market, but the average Joe probably wouldnt be able to find it easily.

Nam, Here in Canada, we have some tough gun laws. Machine guns are prohibited, clip size restricted, handguns highly regulated, and the list goes on and on...... and that doesn t stop the crimals from obtaining firearms, doh Here in the province where I live, Knives kill more people than guns, especially kitchen table knives in domestic disputes. Our population here in Canada is 1/10th that of your country, but our crime rates are comparible, and worse in some cases.confused
The way I see it , if there were NO guns at all, there would be another weapon of choice. Society has to change its attitude to appreciating life, not hating life ,and showing it with guns, and other weapons. Definitely something wrong in this world,
Call me a socialist, a liberal, even a communist it that's your thing. BUT I do not agree with this NOTHING can be done, whimpering moan.

When I was 11 I went thru the windshield of car. My visual cortex shut down, leaving me blind for the next few months. Even into today I suffer terrible headaches. The things is back then the auto industry felt it would drive up the cost of cars if they installed seat belts in every car. Well I got news for you, not only does every car have seat, but a whole host of safety features that save lives every day.

Then there are cigarettes. Again when I was 11 almost kid a had pack of cigarettes and lighter cause everyone did it including movie stars, which make it so cool. Okay people still smoke, but the volume has been seriously reduced and smoking is banned from many public places.

The thing is even the unchangeable can be changed. It is just a matter of will power. Okay yes, teens will probably return to switch blades and gravity knives. BUT hey, it is pretty tough to mow down 500 people at a concert with a pocket knife.

Okay Nam, have at it. Tell me why I'm wrong. Failing that, call me names.
think sensible people see if you get rid of guns things will get better is not easy do but this is why we have goverments .....to many of wrong people have and are able to get is same here theirs guns in most houses in rural Ireland nd a lot I would not allow walk a dog so how they get I don't understand
Guns are not the evil ones, people are.

Responsible ownership is the key.

I'd probably favor restrict issuance automatic ones.
Jim - neither seat belts or cigarettes was an easy transition here in America. But it happened none the less, because society as whole decided the cost was too great, personal and otherwise, to continue the status quo.

Mz Jones, I have no interest interest in assign motivations, religious or otherwise, to societal problems. My interest has always been that seeking NOT Blame, but solutions. In education that is called the expectations game. By saying a kid is a loser (or evil), you as teacher need no longer make the effort to make things better. With a wave of the hand, your job is done.

Okay there is another name you can assign to me. I was a teacher. A science teacher at that. (( and of course we all know how evil science is ))
Namaron : if the decision-makers in Washington D.C. were as honest as you, in this blog, perhaps they would have found some solution, fairly acceptable, to end the spiral of death and horror.
In preparation for any disaster, one should also have firearms in that preparation..They are a nessassary tool for security and survival, just as food, water, shelter and so on.

4 generations of my family have handed down knowledge and traditional firearm and that tradition shal continue until our family is extinct beer
...in Norway even the police doesn`t carry guns...

...it`s more and more strickt regulated to own a gun too...

Do my eyes deceive me, Nam? You and I on the same side of a political issue? Did the world just end, or was that just a climate hiccup? LOL
For years I tracked school shootings until I grew weary of the climbing count. Until Sandy Hook and an occasional sniper in a bell tower, most of them were bullied kids looking for pay back. Generally it involved the kid bring a hunting rifle to school. Now the Sandy Hooks and bell towers are happening with greater frequency. And bullies now hide their taunts in the internet.

In science one speaks of Correlation not denoting Causality - but it is hard to set aside the increasing volumes of gun owner aside when it comes to a parallel increase in mass shootings.

Some people have no idea of what an assault rifle is by the looks of it. In U.S. armed service, I carried an M-60( up to about 650 round per minute) or sometimes, an M-16. My side arm was a model 1911 .45 caliber hand gun. Only fire arms with fully automatic capabilities are assault rifles such as the M-60 machine gun and the smaller M-16 rifle( which has a selector for the rate of fire desired)Single rate 12-15 rounds sustained, 45-60 rounds per minute burst, up to 700+ rounds per minute on auto. Then there is the M-249 S.A.W., squad automatic weapon,(rate of fire from about 750-1000+ plus rounds per minute determined by a selector valve). Just a few of the basic weapons our military might or still uses. They come in different designs, mounting methods, and actuating methods, based on application for the battle field. Some rates are basic but will do more or less depending on the operator.

It takes a dealers license for automatic weapons. The vast majority of people can not buy or own an assault rifle in the U.S.

Further more; no one can say what a person will be like down the road. Perfectly docile and law abiding then one day something goes wrong. We can't account for that. We can't account for a person that might suddenly become "radical" what ever. Just as we refuse to account that most mass shootings happen in places where the law abiding gun owners can't have their fire arms. We can't account for every well though out plan to take as many lives as possible for what may seem to be no apparent reason.

Even by best estimates, if the U.S. government tried, they may only manage to take away about 1/3 of the fire arms in the country. That would still leave roughly 200 million fire arms at the people's finger tips. Most people know the second amendment was put there for us, the people. It was put there to help protect us against the government and any other troubles that might potentially arise.

Every time some idiot politician talks about gun laws, when we actually do have more than enough of them, it reminds me who actually has the most to gain from taking as many fire arms away as they possibly can.

There's a reason why the U.S. has little worry from invasion among other things. The greatest atrocities have always been committed by a government. In all of those instances, the people had to first be subdued and disarmed. With some said governments even now, killing people for political differences as treason or some sort of insurrection, many seem more concerned about U.S. gun laws.

Leave the laws alone. There are many laws and the right to bare arms has more than a few purposes with reasons. When you take into account population size, any number of different views and values(which can lack severely in better directions), how many may not even know or understand anything about fire arms and laws but want one, how much greater is the possibility of radicalism, emotional melt down, or just plain being on the wrong side of the law?
Oldguy, the NRA spends more time and resources fighting politicians and politics since there are many that would sooner continue to usurp authority to continually take more rights away.

The government is not the answer but more of the reason for some of our biggest problems.

They have nothing to do with sales. They're not a dealership. No; I'm not a member but the more people scream about more gun laws when they are clueless about many that are in place, used, and work; the more I'm starting to consider it.

More resources to keep fighting worthless politics and too many clueless people on just how much laws, back ground checks, and more are already in place, is starting to appeal to me enough to actually consider becoming a member.

BTW,the NRA isn't the only game in town!
There are other Associations for the preservation of the 2nd!

But the NRA-Bogeyman is usually utilized to demonize lawabiding Gun-owners!
I suppose it would please some if this situation would become the "New Normal"!

Tell you what guys. Come back in ten years and explain how it came be 12 year olds carrying guns into the classroom was essential to continuance of American freedom. To me it looks it looks like market share increase.
Or come back in 20 years when an automated gun system shoots down a teenager trying to retrieve her soccor ball. Tell how that weapon system will keep politicians at bay.
Better yet, go read a book on economics
Nam, I forgot to add that I enjoy reading all your blogs. I find them interesting as well as provocative.
