Seafood...

A new Asian market opened in North Miami recently and the selection of seafood is amazing. The seafood display is at least 50 feet long. Live fish in tanks, lobster, blue crabs...
From the common to the exotic, it's all there. Great prices too!

What's your staple food? Do you have any? If not, what's your favourite food?

Over the years while getting to know people in real and online, few of the common questions that I have been asked are "What's your staple food? Do you have any? Is Rice your staple food? Why isn't Rice your staple food?"

Have any of you been asked these? What would your replies be?

As for me, like I'd written under my previous blog with Title "Who am I? A Scammer via Identity?", I had a global upbringing where I lived the most in Australia followed by Oman, India, Nigeria and Ireland (Yes, seen couple of other nations too. And yes, I do have a global family as written under that blog). So, the food that I eat are Italian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, South Korean, Thai, Taiwanese, Turkish, Mediterranean, American, Mexican, Seafood, etc.

Rice isn't my staple food though it is one of the many food that I do eat at times. Below are few of the alternatives that I do go for too:

1) Pasta

This is 1 of the Pastas that I have where I make Macaroni with Frozen and Fresh Vegetables as well as Non-vegetables whether Sausages, Chicken or Fish. I do have many other Pastas too which I order also.

2) Pizza (Usually not rice based)

That's the Chicago innovation Deep Dish Pizza which I had at one of the Uno Restaurants in Chicago.

3) Ethakka Appam (also called as Pazham Pori or Kerala Banana Fritters)

4) Kappa (also called as Tapioca)

Yes, I do have that with Fish, Chicken and more

5) Chapati and Paratha
Embedded image from another site

This is another 1 that I have with various other food and here, it's Chapati

6) Fries, Chicken Nuggets, Fish Fingers, Eggs, etc

With Rice, I do have Indian Food, Japanese Food like Sushi, Thai Food like Red and Yellow Chicken Curry and more (Sorry, I had to take them off because of what I'd written below under PS)

So, these are few of the food that I do eat. What about you? What kind of food do you eat and like? What are your favorites?

PS One thing I did notice with the Last Blog and especially with this 1, ConnectingSingles SUCKS with IMAGES as PREVIEW, it's ok but when the Blog is Published, it goes haywired.

Little old housemate couple, from next island...

made typical Azorean fish stew. Invited us all to the feast. These folks know a bit about yummy, hearty, peasant food. Memories of granny's cooking. Could easily get fat here. Need to bring Bravo for lots of trekking.

Can't focus today

I got up at around 7, made coffee, read some news and then started drawing. I should say I skimmed over some headlines because my attention span today is shot.

I wondered what was going on in my head but I have no way to see inside...or do I?

Windows to the soul...hmmm

Well, the 'window' part is pretty accurate.
??

It's probably a good thing I don't try to draw eyes from reference photos!

I've been trying out some new pencils this morning and haven't completed a thing. It's ok though. Practice makes progress...or something.

F'k it. Gonna watch football!

Chinese Buffet...

Another frustrating but productive day at my nephew's (rented) house clearing furniture before the end of the month. We had a truck stop by for donations. They were picky and only took the prime items... metal framed computer desks with glass tops, wine fridge, bicycle and one table. That left lots of other things. My niece called up some social media link like Craig's list and one woman came by for the baby tricycle and some laundry bins. A young couple took 2 parsons tables, carpet and will return tomorrow for some mirrors and possibly another table.
It was late and my wife suggested sushi. I found a place via GPS on the way home listed as a Chinese Buffet with sushi. While most of the food was tasty, I didn't like how everything was in a glaze sauce. I avoided some foods as my guess was they were sugar coated. The fried Pollock was really good and so was the sirloin pieces.

Priced less than the buffet we normally go to, it was an okay experience... at first!

Mentioned in a few of my blogs is the danger of MSG as 'we don't get along' very well.
Getting home wasn't an issue... staying awake was. I crashed in the chair and later landed on the bed. I wasn't alone in the ill effects as my wife crashed on the sofa. We both had headaches and dizziness. It's more than 5 hours later and we haven't recovered.

Knowing what I know now, it's amazing this restaurant got 4 out of 5 stars on Yelp!
I don't have a Yelp! account... but if I did my review would probably read: Dinner and vertigo $11.95.

Diets...

Let's face it, they are almost all nonsense, when really subjected to rigorous study, as hard as such is to do in free living human populations. Not talking here about diets for folks with various disorders. With some types of Syndromes, diabetes, celiac disease, gout, porphyria, etc., of course it makes sense to listen to a nutritionist (who, just by the way, are mostly all hot). And diets won't help our poor CS liberal friends from the struggles with severe TD-HD Syndrome. But I digress. However, those diets for loosing weight are mostly only of benefit for some scummy physician and his diet book. Or that dumb blonde anorexic TV celebrity, to expand her audience, and also promote the vapid paperback. Yet, just got back from "we beat the Indians day dinner", dinner with some family, and our twins did the cooking. All the ladies in the house are on the ketogenic diet, which for all I know, might just cause mild acidosis in some folks. But they are all looking pretty svelte, and ALL of the dishes, normally great at these get togethers anyway, were especially tasty. Sure, the extra fats advised by these plans will add some taste. But the spices were more tasty as well. Always bring a little back with me for Mr. Bravo, and he woofed it down in no time at all. I still think, if you want to loose weight, eat less and exercise more, each gradually. But maybe some diet news make sense.

Good news stoners

As if Thanksgiving isn't already an excuse to stuff......yourself with food,
why not ensure you get the munchies, while you are already feasting.
That's right. If the tryptophan in your turkey wasn't enough to mellow you out,
one manufacturer has come out with cannabis infused gravy.
Wow man ! Have another hit......from the gravy boat.
The good news, is that both you and your closed-minded uncle
will totally forget about what you two were arguing about. dunno

Bon appetit man.

Autumn Time

Fall is a great time although not so much in Florida where everything just turns brown and dies. The weather hardly cools down much. It is just a little cooler in the mornings before the sun starts scorching us. Now it is the time for flavorful aromas like cinnamon, cloves and pot.

I saw a video yesterday introducing the New Instant Pot / Air Fryer Duo. It is the regular IP but with two lids, the second one being the Air Fryer function so you can pressure cook something, then change lids to crisp it up or just air fry wings or whatever. Dammit I want it and spent the day restraining myself from buying it since I already have two IPs and One Air Fryer. These three gadgets I use daily. I use my oven or stove on very rare occasions. I'm not sure how long I can restrain myself from buying the new gadget, trying so hard to use my logic of "I don't need it, I just want it" If I hadn't bought my folks and kids their own instant pots I could justify buying it just so I could give my old one away. Time will tell how disciplined I am or am not.

Mom loves potatoes but she always cooked pasta for Dad as that is what he loved. She ate potatoes when we went out. Yesterday I saw a video for a cheesy Potato Leek soup made in the Instant Pot that looked delicious. Three kinds of potatoes, three kinds of cheese, heavy cream and Pancetta...very fattening and decadent. Since Mom is only 83 pounds I'm making that for her today. I'm changing it up a bit to be a bit more weight friendly for me by adding cauliflower to the potato. Before I add all the cheeses I will take a portion out for me. 8 minutes in the Instant Pot that still blows my socks off.

I've found the best cooking videos done by Jeff at pressureluckcooking.com. I've cooked so many of his recipes in the IP from his videos, all oh so good.
