putting smoking in its place

this is a blog for the smokers on CS - the social, the regular, the trying-to-quit, and even those who call themselves non-smokers but turn up for meets reekin' like a lum, or keep bumming 'just one' from you.

smoking

And no, we are not convening this meeting behind the stinking garbage bins. That's partly what this is about. We're being hustled, so we are. I don't think any countries allow smoking indoors in public buildings or any public transport any more. Public open spaces are under threat. Laws are coming in making it illegal to smoke in a house or car if there is a child around. Some countries already have them, so the kiddies have to sit down and think about their options. Do they shop mommy or daddy or the grandparents to the authorities, and likely get cut out of the will? Or did they remind themselves that shutting up will mean mommy / daddy / grandparents will die all the sooner, making them rich rich RICH in the shortest possible time ...

smoking

My blog, my rules - this is only for smokers, and our special places to smoke. In fact the importance of having a special place to smoke. Whether you have one or two cigs a day, or a few a week, or whether you smoke thirty or more every day - it's time to make a special place, or talk about the special place you already, the haven where no-one can get on your case.

smoking

Any non-smokers who feel the urgent need to say smoking is unhealthy / a disgusting habit / they quit cold turkey from 100 a day and never looked back / any other hostile, pompous, boastful or unpleasant comments, should go look at a handy blog Harbal has up for unwanted comments. Our lungs, our choice. When we want to make it your choice we will ask for your opinion. Thank you for respecting our rights.

(read the text again, but only the unclear rules)

My office manager is always busy with
the most difficult tasks without being involved in
time-consuming silliness. He never
hesitates to help others or take over their work, and yet
he manages to finish his duties on time. He often stays at the
office for a while longer to go through a difficult file and he already forgets his
coffee breaks. He does not have the slightest
pretension and without much extra training he excels in
knowledge of computer science and other technical gadgets. It is a guy who
enjoys absolutely high appreciation among his colleagues and
can not be missed by anyone . I suspect he will soon
promotion can think. Maybe immediately at the management expansion that is now at
the door. The company will benefit from it thumbs up

THE TIME OF THEN

The kitchen from my childhood was always full of people.
there was a warm stove in, what more could you wish for?
the laundry hung to dry and the sausage on a nail.
the coffee was simmering, where was life richer?
We sat in our kitchen with nine men to eat
with soup beforehand and pudding, I will never forget.
the dishes were not the worst, then we were singing.
a big sink, that was our bath, there were worse things.
The kitchen mat was rolled up, because father came from the market, I still see him sweating
The arms full of vegetables, we had to eat again.
bread was always on the shelf and a pig in the cellar .. it
was dirty then the mop went through and everything was clear again.

and NOW? .. The kitchen of our children is full of devices
the newest of the latest, but you can not talk to it.
the laundry is in the dryer, the food is in the freezer.
it is unprecedented luxury, if I had not known better.
They eat in the kitchen, yes with whom did that matter?
a two-minute meal, from the microwave.
the dishes that go in the machine, they are not with that.
and singing that does not have to be done anymore, they're playing a CD.
No more drinking, but a whirlpool, a car at the door
who is not satisfied, that is an old nag.
we did not have all those things, but we did have something more.
a precious life; cosiness and atmosphere.
thumbs up

WHY I DO NOT CLEAN MY HOME

WHY I DO NOT CLEAN MY HOME,,,,,,,,,, I do not clean windows because ... I love birds and I do not want them to fly against clean windows and hurt themselves.

I do not put floors in the laundry because ..... I am very afraid that a guest slips and hurts. I would find that terrible (and maybe they will complain to me).

I do not care about the dust nests because .... They are good company. Most of them I have given a name and they never contradict, whatever I say ... ..

I do not break cobwebs because ... I want every living thing to have its own 'home' ... I do not to the spring

cleaning because ...... I love all seasons and do not want the other seasons to be jealous ..... I do not remove weeds in my garden because .... I do not want to walk in front of God , he is an excellent designer.

I do not put things away because ..... I will never be able to find them again.

When I invite visitors to come to dinner, I never give a gourmet evening because ....... I do not want to let my guests get stressed about what they will have to cook if they invite me to come and eat ... .. I do not iron clothes because ... I have chosen to believe the labels that state:

I do not worry, I do not care because ... "A Type" personalities die young and I intend to stay in the area until I am a wrinkly and cracking old man ............. (a clean house is a sign of a broken computer) And my computer works fine!cheers

I sat in my room at my desk yesterday and played with my pencil.

I sat in my room at my desk yesterday and played with my pencil. Dejectedly I looked at all the work that I had to do before my exams. A feeling that I can not describe suddenly made me realize that I was not alone in my room. I looked up and saw her standing: naked !! She stood straight, immobile and with an attitude

Okay, the challenge is: decision, decision, decision

Being retired but don't have enough money to live on as originally planned is truly a challenge for me these days.

Okay, I can keep living in California, one of the most expensive county in the nation and keep working until I die, but close to my children and grand children whom I adore and love, or move to France, live modestly with a part time job or retire in the Philippines where I can live like a queen (no rent, water bills, and cheap way to live based on the dollar worth). Live back in Cali every summer and go to PI every winter. I am strong and healthy so the least of my worry is health care.

Right now I am tired of working full time just so I can continue traveling but if I stop working I would live very miserly and that is not an option that is favorable for me.

So what should I do? I guess the challenge goes on unresolved.frustrated

Do you guys have any challenges that are wrapped around your leg, it feels like you are dragging a ball of chains?

Anyways, I am just venting. I guess. Venting is cathartic isn't it?

Thanks for reading my blog.

WITH MONEY

WITH MONEY................ Can you buy a house
But no home

Can you buy a bed
But no sleep

Can you buy a watch
But no time

Can you buy a book
But no knowledge Can you buy power
But no respect

Can you buy medicine
But no health

Can you buy blood
But not life Can you buy sex
But not love

So as you notice, money is not really important; and often it will lead to problems and misery.
I tell you this because you are my friends and I want to avoid having to face these problems
=> Therefore, send me all your money and I will suffer for you!

PS: Only cash and in small denominations please ..thumbs up

Reflection for 50's.

Reflection for 50's.
If we have, for a while, 50s (as they now call us, no longer seniors or elders), want to reach the age of 100 years,
we must be stronger in our shoes than ever, because:
When the youth is tired, she is on vacation.
When we are tired, they say "they are lifting".
If the youth makes objections, she has a strong opinion.
If we make objections, we have not understood.
If the youth forgets something, you hear them say "I've been incredibly busy".
If we forget something, people say "that is old age, or Alzheimer's".
But we the elderly are survivors, just look at the changes we have experienced, experienced and survived:
We were born before there was television, freezer, flash cameras, credit cards, computers, dishwashers,
microwave ovens, induction plates, drying cabinets and steam irons.
We first married and lived together without any knowledge and without experience (all that was the case with me).
We were born before there were housemen or part-time jobs, daycare centers, group therapies, cohabitation contracts
or generation pacts.
We had never heard of boys with piercings, bomb-mothers and H5N1We were there before the E40, the B747 jumbo, the shuttle and the TGV.
We only used our memory with brain cells; now they have RAM and ROM and memories with Hard Drives
full of Mega and Gigabytes.
Then "Made in Japan" meant mess.
An i-POT (D) was a stew with us to cook an egg.
We danced on 45 and 33 rpm records, now we have CDs, DVDs and MP3s.
Rabbits and other mammals also ate celery, now they have the same effect on Viagra and v***rator.
Aids was the English word for helpers.
Having a relationship with someone had to do with things, and not with a bed. We were still talking on the sidewalk with neighbors, now they use E-mail to tell each other something, if possible with a
web camera.
We still had a kodakske with black and white film, now they take color photos with a mobile phone that they send with Bluetooth or they
already use a Blackberry Pda.
The galante post with headphones has become a homestudio with surround sound.
The baker still brought the newspaper on foot on Sunday, and the free gazet with the result of the Tour of Flanders was
thrown down from a plane from Het Volk, now they get the results on the PC from the website of the Sunday. the papers.
We did not know what money was out of the wall or bread from the machine.
We had an appointment with us, now that is a "dating" with a "babe".
If you want someone to the moon now, it may be that he is really going there.
We called the news on the radio "the spoken newspaper", now we are being put to the ears with digital radio DAB and
high definition television HDTV.
The color "pink" had to do with babies and "homo" meant "man".
We were still with the scouts or with the Chiro, and boys had to join the troop, now the youth has to take off as a hooligan on the
football or by stabbing a joint.
We are the last generation of having a man to have babies.
We used to look at a map, or even a compass to find the way, now they use a GPS.
But friends, we have also gone all that way, we also send few letters by mail, but go e-mail and with our
cell phone we listen to music, we take photos, and we can even make phone calls.
We will once again adapt, and certainly participate in modern times.
It is not that bad.

Is this true and if so, why?

I heard this today on the news. It is most likely fake news, but what if it weren't? It was reported that the Department of Defense pays the NFL to promote patriotic themes....or something to that effect anyway. I am guessing, the NFL gets paid to play the National Anthem. If, of course, this reporting is true.

Now if it is true, the first question that comes to mind is why?

The news never reported on that part.

I mean...what I am going to say here sounds like a huge conspiracy theory and all...but one reason why...that I can think of anyway, and I am with no doubt...thinking it is wrong...it cannot be...but, it is still coming to my mind. Is it because there is some sort of mass agenda going on with the public by our government? dunno

Why else could the Dept of Defense be paying the NFL?....if this is all true about them paying them?

Maybe the NFL is somewhat tied in with the government and it is a way of making people richer?

Why else?

Hmmmm

Going To Be Interesting Times

Well, I done it. I finally gone mad. Finally lost my marbles.

I am going to quit smoking pot, at least for a while, maybe forever.

I have been smoking for over 25 years, every single day for the last 15.

I'm been noticing things for a while now. My memory is shot, I make a lot of stupid errors like spelling errors that I never would have done 5 years ago. Only for spell check, my replies would be ripe with simple dumb mistakes. Making mistakes doing things, mixing up sugar for salt for example. To put it simply, my mind is starting to short circuit and I'm pretty convinced its my excessive smoking thats doing it. Truthfully told, I don't just smoke pot, I abuse the hell out of it. Unfortunately, its starting to affect me in a bad way and I need to address it now while I still got enough sense to do so.

I was always a pot advocate and I will continue to be one. My biggest advice to people is going to be to save it for the weekend, you will be able to smoke it for a life time without too many bad effects. I smoked enough for 25 lifetimes in the last 25 years. THC (active ingredient in pot) is a drug and like any other drug (alcohol included), abusing it too much will have negative effects. As much as I want to think its not doing anything to me, my better judgment is telling me its quite possible it is. I need to stop smoking now and see if I can straighten up my mind a bit.

Going to be interesting times

uh oh
