Death Comes To Us All

Enjoy life now, we are all here on borrowed time.

A close friend of someone dear to me was killed in head-on collision few days ago. A healthy and active father of 2 young ones, wonderful son and husband and great friend to my Charlie. His vehicle was struck head-on by another car that was going the wrong way, alcohol is believed to be the factor.

Someone stupidly got drunk , too drunk to see where he's going ...and just like that young kids lost their father.

I haven't met him but Charlie talked a lot about him so I know how painful this must be for him. He has very few friends and Tim is one of the closest.

We are lucky to be alive but we can drop dead at anytime so live and enjoy life and give love specially to those who care about us.

Drive carefully and keep safe.

Salute to all who 'never married' with logevity

I highly respect all of you who never married and live that long without getting insane.
I've been by myself a little over three years but feel like getting in and out of insanity incessantly.
I can't stand sitting in front of screen.
I'm back to mountain now.
See you all.

My New Place

Is such a dream. My landlord worked hard on it so I could move in January. I actually got to move in mid December. Every time I walk into it, it still smells of fresh paint.

This is my first time renting a house. I hope to buy it in the future. My coworkers always ask if I get lonely. Of course, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. At least right now.

I would like to share it with someone but it seems all men want nowadays is sex. The ones that don’t are just friends and don’t want to be with me.

Life just plain sucks sometimes but I’m so grateful for this house. I’ll be lonely if it means I can have this house. The loneliness seems so small in comparison.

Hypocrisy much?...

... Attended a board meeting of our local food coop, just to see how it runs. One of the local Native American tribes are the Wabanaki. At the start of the meeting, all are invited to make a brief statement. This one guy says that we are all living on Wabanaki land. Now he's a farmer, who works this land. I'm told he is also a trust fund recipient, who thus was able to buy the farm, now in his ownership. Lean, tall, north European looking, pony tailed, with the usual snowflake-millennial liberal sneering tone. The noble savage had no concept of land ownership, but would likely protest if you took his piece pipe, blade or moccasins. He easily would have slit the throat of such a thief. Lack of a sense of ownership, and peaceful coexistence. Sure. Next time, I might ask if he's given any reparations for his culturally stipulated later day expropriation.

Gardening

I'm not any great 'green fingers' gardener but since cannabis has been legalized here I thought I would try see how difficult it would cultivating this sought after herb.

Well now I know why they call it weed, it just grows and grows. Apart from deep watering once a week no special attention was given to these plants. I planted 20 seeds and in a few months one could clearly distinguish between the male and female. After uprooting all the males I had only 5 females which I thought would be insufficient for a decent harvest.
Big mistake.
The 5 females were over 3m tall and wow, did they have buds. So far I have harvested over 5kg. (trimmed, dried and cured)

Here are a few photos.

After 'Trimming' The bud on the right is known here as 'Durban Poison' a very potent strain. Only one out of the five plant was of that strain.

I don't smoke at all.

So yes, the mustache is returning

I mean why not. True the women say it tickles too much, but until I find one to play with, why worry about that?

Today is a gorgeous day. Too nice to sit inside all day. I haven't been out in the back area for awhile. So I grabbed my old 1863 Sharps conversion carbine and went exploring on my lands. Nothing worthy of the .50-70 was spotted this time. Maybe later..

A morning in the life....

...As good as CS is in helping us vet away all the nutters and gold diggers, not to mention the truly dangerous sociopaths, as we cast our wide nets here, there's always more to DO, as in due diligence. So, in an effort to help the many thousands of females on CS who are dreaming of snatching up a catch like me, I thought I'd describe, in some detail, my very own neurotic morning routine. After all, as we age, our ways do become set somewhat, and as my pilot pals say, better to learn on the ground, than in the air. I sleep with the radio on low volume---mostly tuned into the Beeb, on short wave, or to right wing AM talk radio. I do get plenty of sleep, dozing off several times in any given night. There, now THAT should bring the thousands down to one or two intrepid souls. Coffee on, wash up, check the tides/weather, kisses from Bravo, warm up calisthenics, and then our morning 2-3 KM brisk walk. A few hours of of professional reading, music practice, writing, emails, CS, ham radio contacts follow. Then chores, which include work on vehicles, boat, home, garden, etc. I'm not exactly driven to adhere religiously to this schedule, but a partner shouldn't find it all to boring, distracting or tedious. More to follow.

Smart 'Murican

'I am my own God.
We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, the state and our education system.
We are here to drink beer.
We are here to kill war.
We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us'.

They’ll get you in the end

They say you can lead a horse to water but can’t make it drink. A way round that might be to take the water to the horse and just wait for it to give in.

I don’t own a smartphone; all I can do with my phone is make calls and send and receive text messages. It’s not because I’m cheap that I won’t buy a smartphone, it is because I can foresee the consequences that would inevitably follow from my getting one and I don’t like what I (fore)see.

When I am at home I can’t stay away from my computer. Even when I am busy I keep stopping to check on something or look something up. When I leave the house it is a relief to get away from the damned thing. The last thing I would want to do is take it with me when I go out, but, if I had a smartphone, that, in effect, is what I would be doing.

Last week the company I work for told us that all the drivers were to be issued with smartphones. doh
