The snoring duo...

The snoring duo made a guest appearance at my house last night and I'm thinking we could perfect this and take the show on the road.
Actually, I'm thinking of a trip to Ohio to visit my brother. The only thing holding me back is the temperature there was 33 degrees.

I hate varments.

I try to keep the kibble cat food in the woodshed to the point of nothing left to lay around for the night. Altho day can still be an issue. Like the other afternoon when I look and there is a coon sitting in the satellite dish I use sideways for bird feeder. And it is happily chowing down seeds. Of course by the time I get around the back way with rifle..long gone.
Then one night, go out to put wood on and there is an opossum eating kibble next to the cats. The week prior I shot one in the barn. Was able to shoot this one too. Deep snow out back so just toss out behind shed til thaw. Go out another night, there is another blasted possum. Shot that one, tossed into snow too.
Look out a couple days later and the last one if half eaten. Went out and tried to determine tracks. 4 toes, no 5, 4? Claws so not cat. Coyote, nah, would have hauled away. Fox?
That possum is all gone and something dug the older one out of the snow. My guy has idea...set up trail camera. Oh..yeah! Duh. And there when I looked thenext day were two coons.
I have learned that basically nothing eats possum except Southerners. And the way to prepare is to cage and feed clean food for a week since a possum eats anything, rotted, dead of any disease and more.
barf I also have grown up thinking of coons as a clean animal. Eats mice, chickens, eggs, fruit, veggies. Washes it food when available. Bread not tho.
But, dead possums? So researched it. They are scavengers, opportunists, omnivores. Eat anything. And to think I ate coon as a child. Tasty. Til mom refused to spend 2 hours making sure every bit of fat was off or it tainted the meat.
Set live trap. Apple and rotten egg. Both gone, trap not tripped. Blast those paws. So re-set with apple wired in a suet cage. Week and no coon. Nor sign of. Maybe smart and returned to river.dunno But, soon snow will be gone and hens get to come out in daytime.
I know last coon was so big and smart, had to borrow trap from neighbor to catch. Bad part is cats around so can't bait with any food cats like. Did end up catching one lately before this episode. Boarder said he left her out when he did 5am wood fill. And it had sat in the shed for days with an apple. Dumb cat. They do learn tho to stay out after in once or twice.roll eyes
I hate varmints!very mad

soul is a soul is a soul

If you are one of those who believes us living humans beings have souls, would that then mean living animals in general have souls?

We are given souls or it is said that our souls choose their host. Meaning, that our human form flesh and soul are two different entities.

It is said that when a loved one who has dyed visits you in a dream, that is them actually visiting you.

I have just heard where a pet owners pet who died had visited her.

Are we being ignorant or selfish to believe that us human animals are the only living forms that possess a soul?

dunno

Happy Friday all.

It's all the RAGE !

Perhaps you've had a recent break-up, or a terrible divorce.
Maybe you were robbed, or fired recently.
You might even have anger management problems.
Whatever is causing you to have pent up anger and frustrations,
you can now pay to smash things to attempt to get it out in..............
the 'Rage Room'. laugh
This is not a joke. This is for real.

Like that's going to solve your problems. roll eyes
But, you might have some fun dunno
and it's certainly better than taking it out on your car, or big screen TV,
or childishly calling people derogatory names on a 'dating' site.

just me being righteous I suppose

I just seen a woman celebrating in her what appeared to be very expensive boat. I am not sure if she just sailed around the globe by herself or what she was even celebrating about...

But the "righteous" thought occurred to me...what if all the money she spent preparing and accomplishing that goal was spent toward something more self-less...dunno ....let alone the time.

Not just her...but what about other things people sink endless money, time, effort and thought into for selfish ends.

dunno

Just me be righteous here. laugh

Cost of electivity you pay.

In the now disappeared blog about the Texas wind farms icing up, USA members were on about how much more they were paying for their electivity because it has to be green now, so costs more against coal power stations, so how much are you paying per KW as I am paying 19p per KW which is about 13c with the current exchange rate and, that includes the so called green energy charges.

Heavy blanket...

A few weeks ago I saw a display at Wal-Mart of quilted blankets that are filled with glass beads. The theory is a weighted blanket gives more comfort and can relieve stress, decreasing movement and allowing the person more deep, restorative REM cycle.

I sleep with a comforter year round and now, in winter months have 2 layers.
South Florida had a few weeks of cold weather this season... cold by our standards with nights as low as 45 degrees Fahrenheit. It was 70 outside last night, the a/c was off and a window fan was on. Too warm for a double layer blanket, I was up several times tossing and turning. I'll make an adjustment for that tonight as I typically get better rest with blankets than sheets.

expats and the like ,,,,

why is it that people who choose to relocate to another country never really do their home work prior to leaving their mother land,,
no matter which country you go to you will find expats that create their own communities ,create their own pubs create their own shops create their own life style ,,,i am talking about the majority here not the minority,
the majority never try to learn the language of the country that they selected to live in, hardly ever eat the local food or try to integrate in the community ,
and then they wonder why local councils never make it easy for them to apply for things or services.
another trait of expats is to create their own forum in these countries and then run down and complain constantly about everything under the sun, ,
only today i logged into a local forum and the big talking point was the fact that the british expats could no longer buy british foods like cheese bacon butter ect, ect,,,because being an EU country the big supermarkets were no longer stocking these goods ,,, oh dear me the world has stopped now ,,,,
no not really there are plenty of countries that sell equally good if not better products ,,,
but these die hards will not try other goods because they are so set in their ways,,,
which leads one to ask why they move in the first place ,,
well we all know that weather is probably the first and foremost reason for most people to move ,
cost of living is another reason ,followed by education ,,,
i personally emigrated for a better quality of life first and foremost ,do i miss my traditional foods at first i did , but i soon learnt that the local foods were a delight and a lot more healthy ,
i still occasionally make some of my old favourites but i use local products and adapt ,some times successfully and one or two failures but i have never complained about what i could not have ,to be honest it is quite the opposite i am pleased with what i have gained ,,,,,,,,,,,

Quality... the lack of it.

About a year ago, life changed and suddenly products disappeared off the grocery store shelves. Canned foods, rice, water, laundry soap, bleach, disinfectants and most importantly... toilet paper.
I've been through a bunch of hurricanes and this was 10 times worse.
Fights were commonplace when workers stocked the shelves then opened the doors. People literally ran to the paper products aisle and started filling their shopping carts.
Management wasn't smart enough to post signs limiting quantities at enforce it at the cash registers.
At first, some off brands began to appear. That must have been 4-6 months into the pandemic and when things slowly began to normalize nearly 8 months later I noticed the quality of the products I've been using for years was not up the the standards of a year earlier.
Paper cups for example. I've been buying the same brand for many years. Always reliable. Sometimes, I'd forget and come back in the morning and my beverage was intact. Now, I find that after a few minutes, liquids start to seep through the seams in the bottom of the cups. it's not a bad batch as it's become consistent for a few months now, even if I buy the same brand from another store.
Premium facial tissues would pop-up for the entire box and now, there are breaks so you have to reach inside and get it started again. A box of 160 tissues with 4 sequence breaks usually wastes 8 tissues.
Back to toilet tissue. They are made on machines as one really wide roll then sliced into individual rolls that we are used to using. The edges are perfectly cut... well, they used to be. I'm finding the slicing machine is off and some rolls have jagged edges.
Those machines crank out thousands of rolls per day without human intervention. Maybe it's time someone should check the adjustment of the machines!

Quality... the lack of it!
