I’m on

the coming Sunday.

Opened a bottle of champagne, I’ve bought for a different occasion, and called the marina. Told that I’ve checked with the weather god Prognosis and it promises -3 and 2 (5) m/s from NW (feels like -7). Whatchathink? The marina said: “Welcome”.

Bloody matured of them.

Poured a coupe and said that I’m sorry I’s sour the previous time.

A short discussion followed. I made my points, but accepted theirs. They own the enterprise, which wasn’t said. Bloody mature of them.

Took a sip from the coupe. Woosh… and got to hear that we’ll be paddling deeper into the fiord away from the open sea. Some places there are so shallow the kayak scraps the bottom: no rocks, no sea grass for the crustaceans to hide; no depth for small fishes to escape. Nothing to feed on for the next step of the food chain pyramid…

… and a couple of kilometres longer, than my usual route, which’s good, the days growing longer and all. And the very place I’ve seen my first sea star at. And a sea eagle. And enchantedly, Hänsel-und-Gretelly beautiful behind the turn island….

And no way for seeing a seal: too shallow for them.

I’ll always love you, my beautiful seal. As in Whitney Houston.

But I’m on.

Times have Changed

I just got done watching a movie about artificial intelligence and at the end, man's machine had taken over.

It got me thinking. I grew up in small town America, in a place where if you wanted to gain financially, and I mean for the most part just gain enough to pay the bills and survive. In fact, a lot of that life still remains around here....for now. The price to rent an apartment around here can be about $400 a month where in New York City, it can be $2000 a month.

Back when I was young, there really was not much in the lines of making a great living around here. In many cases, one would have to move out from the area in order to "make it" in the world. My father and I would haul scrap iron in the summer time and work in the woods in the -10 degrees cold brisk mornings.

Boy...thinking back to those days seem so ancient now. A time well past....past well back in time.

Now, I can just press a couple of keys in the comfort of my warm home and money comes flowing in from all over the world.

Just the thought of that while I was young...I don't think my wildest dreams could have painted that picture.

This blog is not about money....

It is about the change happening under our noses without us really even giving two thoughts about it. I am from a different time, living in a new world.

trusting thy neighbor...or anyone really.

Have you ever done this before? Your new neighbor moves into town and you learn a little about them.

You get technical information from him in an area he claims to be an expert in. The information you get does not quite seem right, and you question him on it repeatedly...yet, he insists that he is correct.

Being ignorant, you decide to take his advice instead of double checking on the internet for yourself.

BINGO! your $1000 item finally arrives with a huge freight truck in front of your house, and boy...does that baby look too small.

So, at this time you are really suspicious and you double check the information you received after the item is sitting there in your garage staring you in the face and giving you that sinking feeling in your gut. laugh

Well...here I go shopping again.

I am sure there is a moral to this story somewhere in there. uh oh

Which side of the zipper does your Ying Yang hang...

I wore tight jeans when I was a teenager and the placement of my family jewels was significant. Make the wrong move (like getting out of a sports car) and the pain was eye watering.
If I bought a few pairs of the same style jeans, it was easy to determine the safe side of the zipper. With a different cut of pants and I'd have to rearrange the location of Fred and the twins. As the jeans faded (note: I'd wear clothes until there were rags) you could see wear marks on jeans near the bottom of the zipper and know where the jewels resided.
This wasn't of much importance until my band played a few times at a local pub and the waitress made note of it. I believe it was her hobby and the size of the wear mark was a determining factor if she was interested in a guy or not. Looks to her weren't important.

Anyway, it's been years now that I'm wearing relaxed-fit jeans and 'placement' is no longer an issue. I stopped drinking juice and drinks with sugar, cut out cakes and donuts and my weight is 10 pounds less. My jeans are noticeably baggy. I'm opposed to wearing a belt and suspenders are out of the question... that means I'm constantly pulling up my jeans. It's not 'hip-hop' territory yet, but I'm working on a plan. I ruled out a strip of Velcro on my backside but there is merit to stitching some elastic on the inner waistband so no one can see it.

If I lose another 10 pounds I'll be shopping for new jeans with regular fit. The fear then is having to worry about which side of the zipper to hang my Ying Yang.

homeless people ,,,,

i have watched a few docs on homeless people ,,, and to be honest i would never hand out money to any homeless person,,, for several reasons best known to myself ,,
but the bigger question is why are people homeless ,,, to which there are lots of reasons ,,,
and next the age range of homeless people ,,as it differs quite a lot ,,
so from the docs that i have watched including docs that have been interviews with all age ranges ,,
the following is what i saw,,
the young homeless people cover two main types ,,,the first are either alcohol or drug abuse ,where the family have had enough of them and kicked them out for making their own lives a misery ,,and these are the ones that just do not give a dam about anyone or anything except for them selves, but will always play the poor me card ,,
then you have the other youngsters who have left abusive homes or parents seeking a better life with out a plan of action and go couch surfing and the like until people have enough of them and tell them to move on,,
then you have the mid range age group ,that come from relationship break ups loss of job or just bad debts ,,this group also includes families with young kids in tow ,these are mostly eviction people and this group is going to grow at a alarming rate once moratorium ends ..
the oldest group has the biggest problems , mental health being a major contribution , no jobs and no job prospects ,and no family support ,drug and alcohol abuse ,these are the lost souls with little hope of a future ,,
homeless people live in motel rooms mainly families on what support they get ,the mid range tend to live in cars or vans as these still have jobs as such but never enough money to get out of the rut ,
the older generation are found in skid row if they are drug or alcohol dependant and in tent cities if they are not , tent city homeless people due to mental health problems cause more problems by piling up junk and trash all over, and that is why they kept moving on due to clean ups,
homeless hostels and shelters are not the safest of places probably the most dangerous ,
,,,this is a world wide problem that has never been solved surely with todays technology there must be a answer ,,but the truth is there will never be a answer ,,because you can only help people that want to help themselves ,sadly it is just another way of life or should that be a way of existing

OmGaan Met Diversiteit

About three years ago I started reading this book about diversiteit.
How do we look at some one who is differnt <on the outside > ?

When my dauthers were very young we use to go swiming in the winter months, our doctor told us after our swim to sit an hour under the ultraviolet light.he told us our skin dry out in the winter months because of too little sun-light.
and les vitamine D.
So after our swim we went under the Ul,lights,
Low and behold the rest of the swimers stop swiming and started looking at us..Why ?

Before the kids came we took some time off from work for some R&R we went over to Germany we wanted to have a walk in the woods, but in the frist week it rainded so much we came back in thoes time there was police border control. I gave him my passport he looked at me and said At last I have some thing todo today..
I am still here.

Seeing the news from all over the world one ask oneslef is thimgs geting better, ??

When you see a person of colour what is the frist thought that comes into your mind.?

In the year 1979 I was in Brussels I saw this yound white boy begging on the road side,,That was an eye-opener.. In my mind set I had not seen a white person begging..

As a black why cant I like Bach Rachmaninoff or an evening at the Ballet , I think maybe a year ago there this black man in New York he was a brid wachter, In the park some one saw him waching his brids so thay call the police,.

After a bath I dont like to colthes myslef rite away in the winter so I go outside and sit in open air to cool off and dry my skin
but befor I know some one called the police,, What am I saying here Take a road that is not used too many times and who knows we might meet some where out of the box.

Is it only me?

It seems like every time I either am taking a leak, taking (or leaving) a crap, or in the shower or tub....the phone rings. Otherwise, the phone never rings. laugh

1 thing interesting, the other questionable

I would say if you click, watch the whole thing from the 11:00 minute point to the 20:00 minute point.

Enjoy.

I haven't watch the other parts...this was just brought to my attention. I know part of this has been already discussed...but the clarity and the entirety of it was not viewed by me before.

That dr. licence renewal time.

In Wisconsin now, drivers licenses are good for 8 years. Of course this month is when my 8 years has to run out.crying Now I have left my farm exactly 3 times in the last year. I checked on line..you can renew their..IF under 65.sigh Of course have to put SS number on line to do it , too.
So checked..lots of satellite service centers are closed. Of the ones remaining, appointments only. And some no testing, no plates and title stuff.
I was lucky to find the one in my area is walk in, no appt. My fella lives in city and had to do appt.
Decided which mask is best cause have to drop for photo. Drove into town..cars...maybe it is staff? Parked and walked to door...half a dozen people inside waiting and doing. Two windows only. Do I go in..do I go and come back later. frustrated Well, only open two days a week so everyone has to do stuff here.
I entered, saw 2 guys right there and decided to wait outside the door! Gal come up, dunno I said it is safer to wait outside. She is antsy. Almost told her go ahead of me if you are in such a hurry. A guy came out so I went into the foyer. She is on my tail.very mad More people are now out and coming in. Why don't we just have a group HUG while we are AT IT!
I stepped inside..no spacing markers, old guy writing over there with no mask..oh he finished and put it on. Guess cant think and write with it on.
I finally got to counter..handed him the paperwork I had printed and done at home. Take eye test..germy machine!!! argh...He says tell me first line, can you see lights to side, good go for photo. Sheesh, why bother...they used to check depth, color and more.
I had a knit hat on, dropped mask. He tries..take off glasses. Snap. Here is receipt and bye.
I stuffed papers in purse and scrammed.
Finally looked at photo today printout. For 8 years I will look like an old witch. Know what..no one ever sees that photo on license anyway. So who care. It is what I call my year of the pandemic license. 5 days and seems clear of virus. Now can stay on farm til April when dentist again. Or may cancel. Readers Digest says yearly is enough unless issues.dunno

Ponytail Palm...

I had my back to the door when someone came in the showroom with orchids he's selling from his truck in the parking lot. I ignored him and my associate got into a conversation and went out to see what he had to offer. While she was checking all the goods in the truck, the woman from the neighboring business also went out to check the merchandise.
My associate made several trips back and forth as she purchased a few things. One of them was a Ponytail Palm.
I've seen large plants but the one she bought was small, less than a foot tall, it had a thickened trunk and (to me) appeared dwarfed almost bonsai.
Okay, I was curious and went to the truck to see what else he was selling. His truck had signage as a landscaping company who does plant maintenance and leasing for corporate environments. Mostly orchids... I declined having killed a few I received as gifts.
He said everything on the truck is $20 each so I looked around and steered to the Ponytail Palms.
Most were all green and 2 had some red coloration in the center. I chose one with a flared base similar to the photo below.
That brought smiles as I brought it home. I'm told it's good Feng Shui.
