All things made from COTTON

I remember the slogan: Cotton, the fabric of our lives. It hasn't died and this morning I see there's a website with that name connected to Cotton Incorporated.
My preference is garments made from cotton. I don't care that it distorts with repeated washings and I'll go along with cotton & rayon blends to control that.

I will admit to some perverse fascination to a Ban-Lon shirt I had in the 1960's that took on a weird smell when washed in bleach. Except for it's resistance to soak up perspiration that shirt got worn every week until the fabric started pilling and it was time to make it to the garbage. Had it been made in cotton, the shirt would have had another life as a rag when my brother and I worked on cars.

The connection about the alcohol and a machine that extracts seeds from cotton hasn't been established in my mind. but, I believe I can deal with that.

The most popular game in condo life...

I hear sirens again this morning... that reminds me they have lots of amenities at this condo. Games... golf, tennis, 3 swimming pools, shuffleboard, several clubhouses for all kinds of activities like cards and bingo.
But every morning the most popular game here is... (drum roll)
Guess who died?

CS

This is a great site, for many valid purposes. Sure, some shortcomings are here, but to me, these don't involve the choices of the discussions. The vast range of topics is important. Of course, one does have to sift through that which annoys, or otherwise doesn't suit. But even here, with patience, insight and willingness to gain self knowledge, such a deal, no? Great way to search and to vet, with an enormous net. Controlling, intolerant, closed minded snowflakes need not apply.

Do you know you?

I mean, how could you really?

The typical American has an 8 hour a day job and sleeps 8 hours a day. That is 16 hours, leaving 8 hours a day for you to be you.

Okay, to bath and eat in a day most likely takes an hour.

So now down to 7 hours in a day for you to be you.

Typically, there are home chores work to take care of, organizing, repairing, cleaning, taking the garbage out...even with a spouse at home...there is usually something or the other person to take care of. Let us guess another hour for the odds and ends things.

Now we are down to 6 hours in a day.

I am not sure how long the average American spends watching television...is it 2 hours a day or 4? Okay, I am going to consider it 3 hours...watching mindless crap and not allowing us to explore who we really are.

Now at this time we are down to 3 hours a day.

Do you chat with friends and family a bit during your day? Do you go to the bar and have a couple of beers? Do you have to run to the store for some groceries? What other loose ends need to be done? People are usually busy doing something it seems. Okay, let us consider this part of the day an hour.

Now, there are just 2 hours left in the day for you to be you.

How many people even contemplate a bit of who they are...and then put it into practice?
Many people allow their jobs to define who they are. But, are they really that person? Didn't a company just define who you are and not yourself?

What about children...do you have any...does that not take up any part of your time?

Who are you?

Sheep?

Nobody?

Do you know?

hmmm

Reviews ... and why we read them ...

There's the puff review - this is the best product / hotel / restaurant / book I ever came across while using this fake email address, FIVE STARS

There's the well meant review - (my friend/relative) has the best product / hotel / restaurant etc I ever found FIVE STARS

There's the spiteful review - I'm in a shit mood so don't expect praise from ME TWO STARS because it wasn't actually that bad, not as bad as my mood

There's the troll review - HATED IT bwah hahahaha! See my other fake email addresses for similar quality! ONE STAR

And there are the useful ones, good and bad, with their useful comments. 'Took ages to get here but I am happy with the result' - 'not quite what the seller promised, but okay' - 'broke the 3rd time I used it, but was cheap, you get what you pay for' - 'did the job' - etc.

I always read reviews before I pay down my hard-earned cash, and I read the bad reviews before I read the good. You can usually tell which are genuine from the comments.

I know several people who rely on reviews but never write their own. I've met people who only looked up the reviews when everything went pear-shaped, and found they weren't alone. I don't often meet people who write them. I personally always do, on everything, eBay, Amazon, Leroy Merlin, or the multipurpose review websites, on products, holidays, insurance, services generally, books, even CS when I noticed some trolls had been having a go rolling on the floor laughing

Sometimes wonder how many people do read reviews, and how many simply don't bother. Blogs aren't supposed to ask questions, apparently. grin

Now in yet another retirement,

surveying possibilities for another gig. Hardly wealthy, but certainly comfortable, and was able to help others in many regards, over the years. So where is incentive? Not hungry---not pounding the streets. Have to really like what one does in these situations. But it's a great time to be alive. Volunteer activities have never been enough.

How Is Your Day Going?

My day is going quite nice. I got a new pair of sneakers (finally), a little blue tooth book shelf stereo for quiet times and I decided to invest in a quality bong in which I am now breaking in smile

How is your day going? wave
