I want Louie back

Louis CK. You may love him, hate him, or not know who he is at all. He's mostly known as a comedian and a pervert. This shouldn't really surprise anyone who is familiar with his material though.

He got caught up in the "me too" dragnet but his situation was different than that of Weinstein or Ailes. He admitted to doing the things he was accused of and recognized his role in taking advantage of a position of power in a work environment. To put a finer point on it, he asked female colleagues if he could m**turbate in their presence. Some said yes (according to Sarah Silverman), some said No (Rebecca Corry) and some apparently, went along with it but we're uncomfortable.

He's been all but blackballed (would blue-balled be more fitting?) in the entertainment industry due to his transgressions and it's cost him plenty. (The show, "Louie" and the movie "I Love You, Daddy" being two of many lost ventures).
He dared to make an appearance at a comedy club about 10 months after this all went down and I had mixed feelings about it. He did another and got in some more hot water over a joke about school shooting survivors...I still had mixed feelings. I asked myself what would make me ok with him coming back because aside from gut feeling, I have no way to gauge what would be acceptable for society as a whole on this matter.

Then, The Secret Life Of Pets hits the theaters with Patton Oswalt doing the voice of Max instead of Louis CK who did Max's voice in the original, and that's when it hit me. I want Louie back, Godammit! It's not about the movie or about Oswalt, it's about sandblasting a face from Mt. Rushmore and replacing it with Oprah's.

What would it take for the entertainment industry to welcome Louis back with open arms?

How about if Louis CK's stage name was changed to Willy Wanka?

From the proverbial frying pan...

...now directly into the fire. And the evolution of collusion.
It's one thing for the Main Stream Media to lie in their support of Dems. Only the most severely afflicted Syndromics still deny this as fact. We have a few right here on our beloved CS blogland. An obsessions and compulsions driven lot..
But now things have gone a big, VERY big, step further.
As credible evidence of the Hunter/Joe/Jim family corruption mounts, now with the news that the FBI has an open case on Hunter, simply twisting and spinning the facts no longer suffices for the once honorable, and journalistic, MSM.
Now, under the fake, VERY fake, veil of "unverified info", the MSM simply has joined forces to place it under a total blackout, VERY total, over all related news on this latest of Biden family corruption scandals. And big data are increasingly blocking such info on their social media sites. Use the name Hunter in your blog, and get dropped instantly.
Well, the cracks are starting to show.
The example at "the Intercept", may be a cautionary tale of such.
Apparently, all this blacking out, and blocking, has gotten to one of the higher ups at this left wing site, of ebay creaters, 'First Look Media'. It would seem that one Glenn Greenwald there has resigned over his concerns of trading journalism for cover up.
Nothing made up here, folks. Look and ye shall see.

Elvis - The Movie

I just watched the latest Elvis movie as mainly told by colonel Tom Parker.
About 2 hours and 40 minutes, but quite entertaining.
I'd give it a 4 star rating but.... I'm not really a good critic.

Elvis is a 2022 biographical musical drama film directed by Baz Luhrmann, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce, and Jeremy Doner. The film follows the life of rock and roll icon, singer, and actor Elvis Presley, told from the perspective of his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

You wanna remake a network, you gotta break a few eggs…CNN fires Brian Stelter

CNN is canceling its Sunday media affairs show Reliable Sources, and host Brian Stelter is departing the network, Stelter tells NPR.

In a statement to NPR, Stelter says he's grateful for the show and his team's examination of "the media, truth and the stories that shape our world."

"It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential," Stelter said, promising to say more on Sunday's show — its final episode.

Stelter got his start blogging about cable news as a student and went on to become a media reporter for The New York Times. Reliable Sources is the longest-running show on CNN; Stelter has hosted it for the past nine years and celebrated its 30th anniversary in March.

CNN chief Chris Licht informed Stelter of the decision yesterday. Licht has been making cuts throughout the network since taking the helm as part of Warner Bros. Discovery's takeover of the old Time Warner company. Stelter, who often touted the show's ratings on Twitter, was among those CNN hosts targeted for frequent criticism from conservatives for his coverage of the media in the Trump years.

Among those publicly joining in on the broader criticism of CNN as having become politicized was the investor John Malone, a major financial stakeholder of the new WarnerDiscovery conglomerate. In an episode on February, Stelter cited Malone more than a dozen times in coverage of the Discovery deal for CNN and its sister properties, expressing some concern about the investor's influence.

"Stelter came to CNN from the New York Times as the nation's top media reporter. He departs CNN an impeccable broadcaster," Amy Entelis, CNN's executive vice president for talent and content development. "We are proud of what Brian and his team accomplished over the years, and we're confident their impact and influence will long outlive the show."

Joker - a review

I finally managed to watch Joker yesterday, and it left me severely disappointed.

The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, a failed stand up comedian in Gotham City, who assumes the alter ego Joker, after a series of unfortunate events.

Other actors include Robert DeNiro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, and Marc Maron.

I was told that this movie was AMAZING, and that I would love it. But after almost 2 hours of runtime, I found myself thinking "This is terrible."

95% of the film is talking, and not much is happening. There are a few scenes of mayhem, but they are generally not very exciting. Even the bloody scenes left me unimpressed.

Joaquin Phoenix, however, is extremely good in the movie. His portrayal of Arthur Fleck will surely net him an academy award for best actor in a leading role, since he owns this movie.

If you are walking into this movie expecting something like Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight, you'll be extremely disappointed. If you expect a movie that is haunting, brutal and down right disturbing, look somewhere else.

It's a short review, but I don't really have anything positive to say about the movie, other than Joaquin Phoenix.

As much as it pains me, I'm giving this movie a 1/10. It could have been SO much better!

The Irishman - a review!

When I got home from work yesterday, I made some food and then watched the new Martin Scorsese film on Netflix.

It's a behemoth of a film, clocking n at 3 hours and 30 minutes to be exact. The movie doesn't feel boring at all, which is rare, when it has the run time it has.

The movie stars Robert DeNiro, as Frank Sheeran, a truck driver who gets involved with Russell Bufalino, expertly played by Joe Pesci, and his Pennsylvania crime family, and Jimmy Hoffa, played by Al Pacino.

Slowly you see Frank work his way up from small time errand guy to a powerful hitman. It is a very slow burn, but it's definitely worth it in the end!

There is not much I can tell, in fear of spoiling the story. It is on Netflix, so give it a watch! It reminds me of the classic gangster movies like Casino and Goodfellas, two excellent movies in their own right.

9/10
