Last night I met a most extraordinary woman. When she entered the room, she caught my attention like nothing before and I daresay that she had that effect on more than just me.

And believe me; it had nothing to do with her dress code . We purposely hold these meetings as early as possible. She arrived in the uniform worn by the admin staff of a nearby hospital, but she looked as fresh as if she just stepped out a shower; certainly not like somebody who had just worked an eight hour shift.

It was our monthly neighborhood watch meeting and in the absence of my brother-in-law who is in hospital recovering after surgery, I acted as host. She was the only stranger in the room. I sauntered across to introduce myself and quickly learned that they have just moved into the neighborhood a few days earlier.

I’d say about fifty, light brown hair starting to gray slightly, not exactly the prettiest woman around, though far from ugly. Maybe a centimeter taller than yours truly but take away the high heeled shoes and she’d be what I consider the perfect length. She was about seven or eight kilos heavier than what I would have liked. To put it in a nutshell, nothing out of the ordinary and another woman just like her would not have gotten a second look.

But boy, did she radiate an aura. Her presence filled the room. And only then I noticed the man dangling by her side.

She continued to impress me during the meeting. The few questions that she asked were concise and to the point. And though she spoke softly, she could be heard by all. Her voice was probably her greatest asset, next to that aura I spoke about.

Afterwards I realized that, other than greeting, her husband did not open his mouth once during the entire evening, so it is pretty clear to me who’s the boss in that household, but what is it that makes an ordinary woman into something so extraordinary, even before she had opened her mouth?

Hurray!! It is Friday! Enjoy the weekend.

Can I tell you ladies a little secret? You had it all along and did not even know it. Have you noticed how few men will still offer their seats to a lady on a full bus or a train these days? Some people may interpret it as bad manners but that’s not true. They are merely acknowledging your equal status. Beware of those who offer their seats; they are the chauvinists who still think that they are superior to women.

If you still feel that you’re being dealt short, maybe we should change genders for a while but please not while you are pregnant or menstruating; that would be unfair.

So while you are me and I am you, see that you shave every morning… and every night before you come to bed. Your beard scratches me. I’M NOT UPSET!!! Brother, am I going to enjoy yelling at you, and my colleagues, and everybody else without having to apologize? This PMS thing is such a handy thingymabob.

Not now; the children will hear us.

I see the lawn also needs mowing… and fix that bloody gutter that you have been nagging me about for the last six months. And I’m not crying; I’m pissing through my eyes.

NOT NOW; I have headache.

No, I’m not done yet; see that you come home straight from work and this Bingo business on Wednesday nights is bullshìt. PUT THAT TOILET SEAT DOWN!!! Are you listening to me? I’m talking to you. You don’t love me anymore; When last did you give me ? I’m going back to my mother.

Not now; I’m tired.

Then I did not even explore other possibilities like s*xual harassment when I don't like somebody. Boy, I’m going to have a ball. But then it probably won’t last for much longer before you’re going to insist on swapping back because you have discovered that it is not that easy to be a man

Not now. I’m … eh… eh… I don’t know what... but not now.

So, if you ladies want to be on top, be my guest and get on with it. It’s less work for us at the bottom. Oh shìt, last night while I was you, I forgot to take your pill.

Well my dear, do you still want gender equality? Of course you can have it but you will not be very smart to accept it. I would never surrender the upper hand if I had it.

s*xual Subjugation of Women

Women have been subjugated and oppressed throughout history. We are told to deny our desires and feelings, as they are wrong or shameful. We are made to feel dirty or wrong for thinking the way we do. This "double standard" still exists.

Women were once considered chattel or property. We were the property of our father. Then, ownership was transferred to our husband at marriage. Historically, her value was placed on her virginity. If it was intact, she could get a higher bride price for her father. If she was not a virgin, her value went down and the prospective husband was not required to pay as much to the bride’s father. She was considered soiled, impure, damaged goods.

The USA was founded with a puritanical Judeo-Christian belief system. Yes, there still exists the belief of the patriarchal hierarchy, men have the power, women are second class citizens. Biblically, Eve was blamed for for the downfall of mankind and our expulsion from the Garden of Eden. But Adam ate the apple, as well. Yet, women are seen as a deceiver or temptress of man.

So, when a woman dares step out of line, by owning her sexuality and asserting her power as a human being, the reaction can be very negative. Derogatory or shaming words are meant to put a woman in her place. To shut her down and silence her.

But, when a man expresses his desires, he is seen as being a healthy human being owning his own power and sexuality.

Women are beautiful, powerful and s*xual beings. We must stand up and be proud of who we are. Enough of the double standard and staying quietly in our place.

A strong woman can be frightening or threatening to some men. If a man is strong and powerful, he is praised as a capable leader. If a woman acts the same way, she is seen as a b*tch. She may be called a lesbian, dyke or any number of derogatory words.

All the negative reactions, to a woman asserting her power, are meant to put her back in her place.

As women, we must be proud of who we are. Assert you rights as a human being. We are not inferior, less than or second class citizens. Take your place as an equal.

I’m not very clued up on the female anatomy and I need some help to clarify two female terms.

Some time ago there was a shoot-out between the police and would-be bank robbers in town. A female police office was wounded. The newspaper reported on her condition, and I quote: “She is in intensive care but the bullet has not been removed from her yet.” The next day the paper did a follow up on her condition. I quote again: “She is in a stable condition and the bullet has been removed from her now.”

This confused me. The two statements seem to contradict each other. Why did they remove the bullet from her NOW if she was shot in her YET?

I called the reporter on the day that the first report was published and asked her where a woman’s YET is located. She probably suffered from PMS because she hanged the phone up on me. Women!

I did not see my way open to call her again the next day when she did the second report.

But being bright as I am, I solved half the mystery by logic deduction. I reasoned that if she was shot in her YET, the bullet had to go through it to embed itself in her NOW. From this I derived that these two organs or body parts must be in close proximity to each other and, as I don’t have such organs, I can only assume that it must be female organs or at least something hidden under her dress.

But I still don’t know where is a woman’s YET or her NOW. If somebody can enlighten me, I’d be very grateful.

Is this really me ?...

My boyfriend and I had a petty fight on Valentine's day. And haven't talked since. I don't know how it became a fight actually. I told him I was kind of disappointed about the day, he told me "thank you for ruining Valentine's."

I got speechless. I didnt know what yo say because I suddenly got frustrated. It probably was fault for expecting something. I know that he has a lot on his plate right now. But I wasn't expecting anything elaborate. He knows me and that I like simple things. Come on.. I'm still a girl. I want something special on a special day. Not just a distracted "happy valentines day baby" reply.

What hurts me more is that he's ignoring me now. Wth! What is ignoring ech other for days going to resolve? And now, here I am, complaining about it here because I can't rant about it on social media, because my family follows me there abd they're nosy. And I'm oceans away from my friends. Or booze!
