Stormy Skies And Gales.
With winter approaching, we’re having a typical late autumn day. It is unpleasant outside. The sky is clear but there is a cold gale-force South Easter howling round the corners of the house.
When the Portuguese first arrived here, the wind blew them off the map and they aptly named it Cape of Storms. Later, when Sir Francis Drake arrived here on a glorious summer day and he saw Table Mountain in all its glory, he renamed us to Cape of Good Hope but I think the Portuguese got it right first time.
I’m living upstairs while working on the house. It is warm and snug here. I have a fire going and I’m sitting at the window looking down at the street while the wind bends the trees and chases the reds, browns, and gold of autumn down the road. There is an ominous bank of clouds sitting on the northern horizon but it won’t rain yet. It is the wrong wind for that. Our rain comes with the North Western wind.
They call this wind the Cape Doctor because it brings rain to the interior of the country but doctor or no doctor; it is no good omen to us here in Cape Town. This is the wind that takes roofs off and blows shacks over, starting fires in the process. A lot of poor families may be homeless by tomorrow. And if the wind turns, the rain will soon follow to add to their misery.
Let’s be grateful for having a roof – no matter how humble - over our heads. Not everybody have that privilege.

Taking your secret to the grave...
Last month, Orenthal James Simpson aka O.J. Simpson passed away as a result of prostate cancer. Many people hoped he would clearly admit the killing of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman. Suspicions were he didn't actually do it, but was there when it happened.
He took that secret to the grave.
The prosecution bungled the case and in some way (as in the glove not fitting) O.J. was found not guilty. It was an all or nothing case and they got nothing.
I said this before... all the emphasis was to go after O.J. and they didn't seek other avenues.
Years ago, I read an article that cast suspicion on his son Jason. He was strong enough, had issues with alcohol and drugs, suicidal, anger disorder, history of violent behavior, attacking former girlfriends. Was he there that night when the murders occurred?

Legendary journalist Carl Bernstein has said that he’s been told that special counsel Robert Mueller’s report will show how President Donald Trump helped Russia destabilize the United States.
Bernstein, who is renowned for his coverage of the Watergate scandal that led to the resignation of former President Richard Nixon, appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources on Sunday to discuss two bombshell reports released this weekend, one from The New York Times and one from The Washington Post, which revealed new details about whether or not Trump and his aides have colluded with Russia.
The Post reported that Trump has gone to “extraordinary lengths” to conceal direct conversations he has had with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Times article revealed that the FBI opened a counterintelligence investigation into Trump after he fired former bureau director James Comey in 2017, suspecting the president could be working on behalf of Russia. Trump has angrily denied allegations that he worked with Russia and has regularly attacked the media for reporting on the investigation. But Bernstein slammed Trump’s dismissal of the probe.
“This is about the most serious counterintelligence people we have in the U.S. government saying, ‘Oh, my God, the president’s words and actions lead us to conclude that somehow he has become a witting, unwitting, or half-witting pawn, certainly in some regards, to Vladimir Putin,'” Bernstein explained during his appearance on Reliable Sources .
“From a point of view of strength… rather, he has done what appears to be Putin’s goals. He has helped Putin destabilize the United States and interfere in the election, no matter whether it was purposeful or not,” the journalist added. He then explained that he knew from his own high-level sources that Mueller’s report would discuss this assessment.
“And that is part of what the draft of Mueller’s report, I’m told, is to be about,” he said. “We know there has been collusion by [former national security adviser Michael Flynn. We know there has been collusion of some sort by [Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul] Manafort. The question is, yes, what did the president know and when did he know it?
Trump has defended himself against such reports, arguing, inaccurately, that he has taken a hardline stance against Russia.
“I have been FAR tougher on Russia than Obama, Bush or Clinton. Maybe tougher than any other President. At the same time, & as I have often said, getting along with Russia is a good thing, not a bad thing. I fully expect that someday we will have good relations with Russia again! ,” he wrote on Twitter on Saturday.
However, the president’s 2016 campaign remains the subject of a special investigation led by Mueller. Several former high-ranking Trump aides have been indicted in the probe and last week, it was revealed that Manafort shared confidential polling data with an associate linked to Russian-intelligence.
Trump's administration recently moved to remove financial sanctions on an ally of Putin, and has recently pulled troops out of Syria -- a long-standing demand from the Russian President.

Woman, who has been in a coma for 14 years, gives birth at a nursing home

PHOENIX (KPHO/KTVK/CNN) - Arizona authorities are investigating the rape of a female patient in a vegetative state in a nursing facility.
The woman stunned workers when she went into labor on Saturday because they didn't even know she was pregnant.
The woman has been in a vegetative state at the Hacienda Skilled Nursing Facility in Phoenix for at least 14 years after a near-drowning incident.
But nobody knows who did this to her.
An employee at the facility, who didn’t want her name or face being used, said staff could not believe what was unfolding inside the victim’s room.
"How could it happen? And just anger and sadness, and sick to my stomach,” the employee said. "None of the staff were aware that she was pregnant until she was pretty much giving birth."
When asked how the staff was alerted that the woman was going into labor, the staffer, who admits she was not in the room, said she had been moaning all morning. A nurse who was in the room delivered the baby boy, who is healthy.
Adult Protective Services immediately dispatched a team to conduct health and safety checks on all members living in the facility.
The Arizona Department of Health says they are actively working with local law enforcement in their criminal investigation.
But right now, no suspects have been named.
