Horse Racing

When athletes compete at a major event say the Olympics etc. its always about time and the stop watch.
Why don't they do the same with horses? I have yet to find a record of fastest times run by horses at big events.

Maybe I am just not looking in the right places?
The experts on early morning shit shoveling please pass this blog.

2 Great football games today !

Green Bay & Aaron Rodgers host Tampa Bay & Tom Brady

and

Kansas City & Patrick Mahomes host Buffalo & Josh Allen

I'm picking Tampa and KC. (However, I'm rooting for GB over TB)

No matter who wins, they should be some good games.
If I were to bet, it would be KC over Buffalo.

In Historic First, WNBA Player Comes Out As Straight

PORTLAND, OR—In a development that many are calling the most stunning and brave thing to ever happen in the world of sports, a WNBA point guard has come out as heterosexual.

The player, Megan Frederickson, has been playing for the Portland Fire for the last four years. She's broken many records over her short career, becoming the first player to score three baskets in a game, the first player to go over sixty seconds without a total air ball, and the first player to play a whole game without bursting into tears. She even got a record twelve fans to tune in to one of her games.

But now, she's shattering her most significant barrier yet, becoming the first out heterosexual player in the league.

Frederickson came out to her fans and teammates in an emotional video posted to TikTok Thursday.

"I was staring at myself in the mirror and I suddenly realized I just can't hide who I am anymore," she said. "I have to be true to myself. I can't pretend to be a lesbian anymore just because it's what's expected of me. I'm sick of this homonormative culture in this league. It's time for me to really be me."

Frederickson's wife is broken up but says she understands and supports the player's choice to live out her truth in a heterosexual relationship.

CNN is currently combing through her social media history looking for old racist tweets.

That's a lot of BULL...

When talking about Matadors and what they do, gets some people protesting about animal cruelty. This is a sport that's been going on for...
Let's check.

When did bullfighting first originate?
Yahoo says:
"The first ever recorded bullfight in Pamplona took place on 2 August 1385, paving the way for what would become the world-famous Sanfermines, or ‘running of the bulls’."

Britannica claims it was as early as 1621.

So what's the problem worrying about some angry bulls when this has been going on for so long. Do you think complaining will curb or prohibit the sport?
Doubtful... I'd say.

Anyway, I'm only reminded about bullfighting when something goes wrong.
This week, Andrés Roca Rey, considered one of the best bullfighters in the world, missed his mark by a few feet and was struck by the bull. Thankfully his injuries weren't life threatening.

And THAT is a lot of BULL...

SUMO WRESTLING

Perhaps an avenue of activity that could be enjoyed by the increasing numbers of obese people around the world is "sumo wrestling." You can eat plenty, up to 20,000 calories per day. You can still be healthy, providing you undertake the appropriate regular exercise. The fat tends to be stored just under the skin, rather than around the organs of the body. This means you would be healthier than the usual obese person who would most likely not be taking the regular exercise nor the challenges of wrestling.
It is legal to slap, shove or head butt your opponent.
Sumo wrestlers may way 150 kg.

I brake for Pickleball...

Pickleball is a sport played on a court that is smaller than tennis, with racquets that are like ping-pong paddles, only larger. It can be played as a singles game, but often played as doubles because it's quick action. I've seen a few pickleball courts in my travels and it seems to attract women as it's social and less strenuous than tennis.

Near one of the courts, I found a bumper sticker on the car of an avid player. Although they give warning that they brake for pickleball, it would appear the driver behind them didn't.
