That's a lot of BULL...
When talking about Matadors and what they do, gets some people protesting about animal cruelty. This is a sport that's been going on for...Let's check.
When did bullfighting first originate?
Yahoo says:
"The first ever recorded bullfight in Pamplona took place on 2 August 1385, paving the way for what would become the world-famous Sanfermines, or ‘running of the bulls’."
Britannica claims it was as early as 1621.
So what's the problem worrying about some angry bulls when this has been going on for so long. Do you think complaining will curb or prohibit the sport?
Doubtful... I'd say.
Anyway, I'm only reminded about bullfighting when something goes wrong.
This week, Andrés Roca Rey, considered one of the best bullfighters in the world, missed his mark by a few feet and was struck by the bull. Thankfully his injuries weren't life threatening.

I think retirement for them is death.
Somewhere I read, a bull who 'wins' is destroyed.
Actually, all the bulls are destroyed.
At least they could have a barbecue for 50 and not waste the meat!
By doing so, the participants of the feast could at least say they were full of bull!
Making the bulls confused, dazed, painful, fearful and fighting for their lives creates a 'good show'.
Complaining does make a difference as fewer countries practise bullfighting. It it banned in some Spanish cities.
We complained about fox hunting here in the UK and it is now banned in Scotland, England and Wales. It just takes time for politicians to catch up with the will of the people and realise they can gain, or lose votes by taking one side, or the other.
