NOW HIRING...

I hit a few appointments today where one was at a construction site and another the service entrance to a large condominium. It's become normal to have NOW HIRING painted on the work trucks.
Why the constant advertising for tradesmen ??
I suppose when times are good, businesses are expanding and always have the word out for more help.
I cannot say, times are good right now, so my realistic thought is the working conditions with those companies is so bad that they have a constant turnover in help, thus requiring hiring all the time!

That reminds me of a company I worked for 35 years ago where the owner didn't have to fire many people... they usually quit after a month or two.

I think at one point, he had employed every cabinet maker in the county.

Get a piece of King Grifters suit...

I'm surprised no one picked up on this, but the suit that Trump wore in Georgia when he was arrested, booked and posed for the famous mugshot has been cut into pieces and being sold. This is similar to the coffee mugs and T-shirts promotion sold bearing his photo.
Last week, it was reported that Trump is offering 'pieces of Trump' in the way of cuttings of his blue suit, but you have to buy 47 $99 NFT's

That amounts to $4,653 and includes dinner at Mar-a-Lago with Trump himself.
It's an online purchase and the fine print states there's no guarantee you will get either.

Appropriate, isn't it?

Black Friday extended...

Many stores have extended Black Friday to Cyber Saturday. Cyber Monday sales are extended to Cyber Tuesday. We're on a roll and I see special sales that should be extended all through the month of December.

Ad blockers on YouTube...

For years I've been using an ad blocker while I surf YouTube.
Recently, I've seen a pop-up message stating:

Ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube
-It looks like you may be using an ad blocker.
-Ads allow YouTube to be used by billions worldwide.
-You can go ad-free with YouTube Premium, and creators can still get paid from your subscription.

For now, I'm clicking the X in the top right, closing the warning/message and watching the video.

I realize supporting ads means money changes hands and ultimately someone benefits.
I suppose there will be a time when YouTube will refuse to play videos without membership... hopefully not anytime soon.

Hall with no Oates...

The other day, I read in music news that Daryl Hall has filed a lawsuit against his former musical partner John Oates and has asked the judge to issue a temporary restraining order. Documents were sealed and information was sketchy. This morning, more details came forward.

Why Daryl Hall obtained a restraining order against John Oates has been (partly) solved.
It’s now been revealed that Hall is attempting to block his longtime musical partner from selling his share in their joint venture to Primary Wave Music.
Hall is arguing that Oates' plan to sell off his share of a joint venture would violate the terms of a business agreement that Hall & Oates duo had forged.

The judge temporarily blocked the sale while legal proceedings and a previously initiated arbitration continue.

Primary Wave has already owned “significant interest” in Hall and Oates’ song catalog for more than 15 years. In a 2021 interview with Sky News, Hall alluded to disappointment with the sale of his back catalog.

Daryl's statement:
“Oh, in the early days, it got sold off for me and I didn’t get the money,” he said. In the same interview, he advised artists to retain their publishing rights, saying “all you have is that.”

Attorney saturation...

A generation ago, FM radio changed from analog to digital signals. What it did was improve the quality and add some sub signals used for additional broadcasts on the same frequency. The additional data is used for information like artist, song name and album photos. The additional data allowed the use of advertising along the bottom line of the information stream. Yes, they found a way to visually advertise at the same time they can send over audio advertisements.
Around here the biggest radio advertiser is a law firm who specialize in car accidents. I could changed between 10 local channels and find this law firm on all of them, Like no other law firm existed, they literally saturated the airwaves streaming advertisements day and night.
I got to thinking... if someone were in an accident and called these guys, would the person who hit them also be calling the same attorneys?
It would be a case of representing attorney's "Connor and Sloan vs. Connor and Sloan"
Probably, if it was realized, someone would have to drop out as they cannot use the same law firm to represent opposite sides. Yea?

It appears that everything is a witch hunt...

I was busy last week and some of it spilled over the weekend into this week. I haven't had much time watching the news, but I see 80% of the news stories are about Trump. When he speaks in public, there is one common thread (he states) that everything against him is an apparent witch hunt. Have you noticed, this man can do no wrong... or so he says.

Run a crooked business and when the government catches up to you, it's a political witch hunt by Biden and those corrupt Democrats. Biden has nothing to do with him intentionally listing properties at inflated prices for better loans and deflated prices for taxes.
His 2 sons were in charge when he was president, but they had 'corporate amnesia' when taking the stand and asked about the accuracy of documents they signed stating it was the responsibility of the accountants... and not them. You have to backstroke when the NY pulls up emails stating otherwise. Small things, like not disclosing the recent $60 million deal Bally's paid for the rights to a New York golf course. Add that to the estimate $250 million penalty the court is seeking.

The court has already ruled that he committed fraud and what the findings are about now, is how much. Trump said the case should be “dismissed immediately” and denies any wrongdoing.

On Wednesday, Ivanka is scheduled to testify. It would appear there is a fine line of perjury versus throwing dad under the bus.

Stormy Wednesday...

I heard of a song Stormy Monday and I heard of an adult model Stormy Daniels, but today the New York courtroom Stormy Wednesday... or was that Stormy Donald?
Not a good day for Donald J. Trump as he was fined $10,000 for violating a gag order by speaking to reporters outside the courthouse.

After, Michael Cohen was on the stand and said Trump never directly instructed him to inflate the value of his assets. Trump's lawyers asked the judge to issue a direct verdict in Trump's favor on the grounds that their case had been proved. The judge denied the motion.
It was reported Trump threw up his hands, said "I'm leaving" and walked out of the courtroom.
Out side, he told reporters "The witness just admitted that we won the trial... and the judge should end this trial immediately.

That said, It won't surprise me if another fine for gag order violation is forthcoming.
