ali110: NO NO NO, you should not worry becoz u r in an other country, yes japan should worry

Maybe you don't see the big picture, Ali.

The reason that N. Korea is rattling sabers is keep inspection of vessels coming from N. Korea.....that might have a nuc onboard.
N. Korea with a working nuc is in the position to sell to the highest bidder(s)in world under ground arms market.

One of those bidders could very well be one, Osama bin Laden.
Who at last report was walking into Pakistan, your home country.
Now let us say for arguement sake....bin Laden is the winner of this nuc auction that the North Korean's can have.

He needs a lay over point for his nuc(s).....a place to store them, take pics and to train his people on how to use them. Think that Pakistan just might be that layover point?

How do you like a bin Laden nuc attack in Islamabad? Pakistan is not high on his like list right now. Nor is the US, UK, Europe, Saudi, Afganistan........

So if bin Laden is the winner of the North Korea Nuc auction, we all on his target list......

first of all anybody dont know that bin laden is alive or not,C.I.A is unable to know the fact and i sure that Bin laden is not in Pakistan becoz Paksitani agencies are very active in pakistan and all the politics and terrorists are focused by them, also they dont know that where is Bin laden?
Nuclear is not a toy to play ,it is not easy to purchase and blast in an other country.
Anyway...nuclear is not a good thing so it should be stop as regions can be safe

Conrad73: China wasn't too happy about that last Test.
Probably not in their interest for a War to start on the Korean Peninsula.
At least not at the moment.
That's right and they got a taste of Capitalism and I think they don't want to rock that boat either. Not yet anyway ...

South Korea is well prepared militarily compared to 1950 in a conventional sense, but I get the impression that because they are a democratic regime, that they have somewhat of a split personality, between the hard-liners and the accommodators. They need another leader with the sort of backbone of Park Chung-hee or Syngman Rhee to face off against the North and to develop a nuclear deterrent of their own.

Your right about North vs South Korea, however I don't think the US or other leading nations would care to have S. Korea hold a Nuclear Weapon. I think the West is trying to reduce stock piles. It looks like Russia my have other ideas though. Yes S. Korea does not have the leadership it once had. It citizenship just like so many other countries has developed a gap in thinking as the younger generation have grown older and are now adults and don't have the same memories or understanding of the past wars.

Yes! If they manage to influence our Western culture it could put an end to life as we know it - trash food chains such as McDonald's, Pizza Hut etc., ruthless multinationals, the totally corrupt banking system, global imperialism, mass exploitation, the systematic health destruction system and privatised, parasitic pharmaceutical "pay-for-your-pills" system and.....Erm...Maybe I'll just change that to a "No"...!

NordicSkier: Does anyone want to understand just what sort of issues we are dealing with regarding North Korea?

This is totalitarianism with a capital T, the sort of regime that was groomed by the likes of Joseph Stalin, mentor to the dead dictator "Great Leader" himself, Kim Il-sung. In contrast to South Korea, an economic leader in Asia, North Korea is an economically backward and ruthlessly oppressed Communist regime, which has upwards of 200,000 political prisoners locked away in dentention camps. Mere criticism of the regime can mean upwards of 10 years of imprisonment and forced labor.

North Korea, while and industrialized country, spends the overwhelming amount of its GDP on defense, at the expense of its people. In the mid-1990s there was a massive famine (yes, in the 1990's, just over a decade ago) that killed tens of thousands of North Koreans. In typical Marxist fashion, they blamed the starvation, food shortages, electrical blackouts, etc. on the United States. Now I think I know why the libs here blamed George Bush for Hurricane Katrina. They took a page from Kim Jong-Il, apparently).

North Korea isn't just some bombastic anti-capitalist nation with a chip on its shoulder like Cuba. We are talking about a regime which essentially is the same one that attacked South Korea in 1950 (a country it does not recognize as legitimate, yet has an economic and political system far and away more developed) and which will stop at nothing to achieve a forced reunification of Korea. The Communist regime is deeply and defiantly entrenched and the military is absolutely committed to the Party line, even at the risk of witnessing their own extinction if a nuclear war were to occur.

I don't think that the Chicoms would come to North Korea's aid like they did during the Korean War if another brouhaha occurred there. They lost upwards of 2 million troops in that war and won't be likely to attempt to face off against the US again. We lost about 36000 killed in three years, but memories are short nowadays and no one wants to remember that.

South Korea is well prepared militarily compared to 1950 in a conventional sense, but I get the impression that because they are a democratic regime, that they have somewhat of a split personality, between the hard-liners and the accommodators. a. We have the ability to knock down a nuke if he makes it a payload of one of his crappy missiles
b. If he were to launch, it is something that even China doesn't want
c. Say he launches, we shoot it down. Guess what happens next. He mysteriously dies and someone with a little more sense comes to office,,,

North Korea's nukes serve only one purpose, as a deterrant against South Korea trying to invade.

They don't have ICBMs, and they only have a couple of nuclear warheads. It's the US with its thousands of nukes and ICBMs and anti-missile missiles etc. that is tempted toward using them.

Sorry! Wrong! The "libs" didn't blame Bush for Katrina, but the American people blamed Bush for failing to perform his first priority as a president namely, to protect his people from harm. Furthermore, why shouldn't he be blamed? The buck stops at his desk! It is alltogether fitting that he be blamed because he was the president at the time just as he was president when the WTC was destroyed or had you forgotten that?

As far as North Korea being a threat to it's neighbors. NK launched a missle that has a range of 80 miles. You can rest assured that that missle had no payload because the further it flew the greater threat it posed. It would not have been in NK's interest for that missle to only travel say, 15-20 miles, the world would laugh at it. Put a heavy payload on that missle (any nuke NK has must be very heavy) and the POS might not even be able to liftoff the launch pad. If it did it surely wouldn't go 80 miles.
