Marty Robbins By the Time I get to Phoenix Lyrics:
By the time I get to Phoenix she'll be rising She'll find the note I left upon her door And she'll laugh at word that says I'm leaving Oh I've left that girl so many times before
By the time I make Albuquerque she'll be working [ Find more Lyrics on
] She'll probably stop for lounch and give me a call But she'll just hear that phone go right a ringing Off the wall that's all
By the time I make Oklahoma she'll be sleeping She'll turn softly and call my name out low And she'll cry just to think I'd really leave her Cause time and time I've tried to tell her so She just didn't know I would really go

tennesseejudy: Thta is a very powerful song.
Indeed it is.
"I pop the video in, and wow… Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps… Wow. [I felt like] I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore… It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning — different, but every bit as pure."
ooby_dooby: It may seem strange being that I have taken my screen name ooby dooby from an old rockabilly song by Roy Orbison but in truth I never really cared much for him and find it hard to understand how many people seem to think he had some kind of great voice. To me he sounds like scraping paint off glass with a razor blade. Anyway, one morning as I was lying in bed in a semi conscious state listening to the clock radio the song "Crying" came on. Now I always hated this song but as I lay there listening to it I found myself thinking, gee maybe I'm wrong about Roy Orbison, I'm actually enjoying this song. By the end of the song I had completely changed my mind about Roy and the song Crying. Then the announcer said....."That was Don Mclean doing the big Roy Orbison hit, Crying."

Found this a while back.
Celts are the men that heaven made mad, For all their battles are merry and their songs are all sad.
Oh it's so funny to be seeing you after so long, girl. And with the way you look I understand that you were not impressed. But I heard you let that little friend of mine take off your party dress. I'm not going to get too sentimental like those other sticker valentines. 'Cause I don't know if you are loving some body, I only know it isn't mine.
Alison, I know this world is killing you. Oh, Alison, my aim is true.
Well, I see you've got a husband now. Did he leave your pretty fingers lying in the wedding cake? You used to hold him right in your hand, I bet he took all he could take. Sometimes I wish that I could stop you from talking When I hear the silly things that you say. I think somebody better put out the big light, 'Cause I can't stand to see you this way.
Alison, I know this world is killing you. Oh, Alison, my aim is true.
Thanks everyone those were some very good sad songs. I think I am finished howling at the moon tonight.
The Song Remembers When. Perhaps we have all been there at some point in our life.
This one played on a night while my daughter was home for a few days from college. She had a break up and heartache. We went out to dinner and when this song played. We held hands across the table and cried. I can imagine what we must have looked like with tears dripping on our steak and potato. I will never hear it without remembering that night.
