jvaski: Think about what you just said .......do you really want natural therapy regulated by the government - when you're already free to use it any way you choose ?
No. I want it to not be marginalized and thus ineligible for insurance coverage by a lot of the major carriers. I want more options, not less. The dependence on symptomatic therapy has to stop. Diet and exercise need to be reinforced instead of allowing the lazy and unmotivated to drive the costs up with their lifestyles. You're free to live however you want, but I don't want to have to pay for it.

Actually - some of the health insurance comoanies are just starting to come-around on a little of that .......example - Blue Shield allows 12 chiropractic visits /year and will actually pay for a few accupuncture visits etc.... but no herbal remedies yet ...

jlw45: well, don't worry...now the insurance co. is in charge...they'll let you croak next time...WE DON'T NEED MORE GOVERNMENT IN OUR LIVES...
It seems the more government in our lives...our business's..the worse things are getting..
They need to leave us alone...they are bored....and they want someone to push around..to control ...steal and rob from.....they are megalomaniacs...a mental disorder...control freaks..seeking to take away freedom from others....of course..for their own good..ya know!
They think they are smarter than we are..even though most of them have never held a real job..
over 55% of Obamas team..has never held a private sector job... check it out..its true...

jvaski: I agree with you - but we'll never see it our lifetime when most of our representatives are lobbied and paid huge perks by these huge drug companies ........
Our 'Free Trade' agreement with the USA was conditional. We had to lift the Pharmecutical Benefits Scheme in order for the drug companies to charge what they like. I for one, could not afford medication if this were to eventuate. Thankfully, our Prime Minister stood up to this condition and the agreement went through.
Our health care system is subsidised via a Medicare Levy paid upon lodgement of a tax return. Only the unemployed, disabled and those on pensions are exempt.
There has long been a user pays mentality regarding our health system promulgated by the conservative party, however, the voter backlash would be political suicide for any party that proposed such a thing.
Our system has it's flaws and one can jump queues by being privately insured. Those who are privately insured receive tax concessions as a result.
Our system is struggling under the weight of our population growth, however, there are public works programmes underway and incentives for doctors who wish to emmingrate here. No system is perfect, but at least our government tries to make it work.
