jvaski: With that, you have my apology for badgering you , but you should take note that you promptly jumped on it with direct insults. I don't have any problems with differing opinions, IV. I just would like to know what the basis for some of yours are on this subject (particularly your claim that Obama is radically different in policies from Bush, and has accomplished great things).
We probably have different basic philosophic premises. The only thing I'd ask in a debate is that we try to clarify what those are, and that we make some attempt to justify them with logic and evidence. Granted, this is a singles site not entirely appropriate for this kind of thing, but I think it's still worthwhile to discuss stuff that's important to us all.
Steve5721: At long last, I have read ssomething that really highlights the problem or the potential problem with this new Healthcare System.
I, for one, was always led to believe...or maybe my OWN belief..was that you were going down the road like Europe and Canada where it is a nationalized scheme where you didn't need private health insurance, unless you wanted it to supplement the national scheme.
Exactly Steve...And have you noticed the pro health care and pro Obama people totally ignored commenting on my post....Does that not make you wonder? This health care reform is NOTHING like what Canada or Europe has. What we are getting is a government MANDATING the health care industry that they HAVE TO insure everyone regardless of pre existing conditions, etc. and MADATING the the 32 million without Insurance HAVE TO buy a policy from a FOR PROFIT insurance company without being able to shop out of the state you live in....OR pay a financial penalty, which means they'll take it out of your income tax refund, which also means they will have to be a data base on who has and who has not bought insurance.....Ya, great plan indeed...WTF
Ambrose2007: I would give anything to have a president I admire. That would've happened if Ron Paul had been elected, by the way, despite his lack of a pretty smile (though he does have a sort of cute dimple).
yea he does....
i knew ron paul would'nt even get close to being president...he makes too much sense... ...it's just like the texas governor race, that's going on down here...there's a woman named medina, that is sharp, and apparrently, for the people and against big government but, the media runs her down like she's something awful....yea, i knew ron paul did'nt have a snowballs chance in hell...just like allen keyes..he did'nt have a chance either....
jvaski: I don't reacll that I accused you of being not well-red Ambrose
Oh, yes - I suggest ytou get out more and watch news ..... That commnet was enspired by the fact that Obama did make plenty of TV news that our troops were to be out of Iraq by Oct .... Now - if he's late with making that promise come true - is another issue for debate later

wiether or not he CAN keep a promise at all, is a whole different debate...

True, it's nothing like Europe's or Canada's healthcare, though it bears some resemblance to Japan's (for instance). In Japan, health insurance purchase is mandatory.
I'd probably prefer a system like Canada's to this halfway-measure healthcare morass offered by Obama.

Specifically I am please that Obama immediately took action to gather his crew to make decisions to prevent a depression. I don;t agree with the bank bailouts generally - but feel initially it needed to be done to settle down a death spiral with institutions collapsing. His efforts to meet with foreign leaders and express a new American diplomacy has been great in my opinion. Closing GTMO was another excellent idea considering all the bad press with our military torturing etc... It sent a message His efforts with health care reform has been a battle .....it's now in the works. so right off the bat - there are two things done completely differently than Bush would have ....

Apology accepted. A direct insult by me would be, "You're an idiot, drop dead". I choose instead to use words to make folks *think*.You know, critical thinking.Far too many don't know how to critically think anymore. Somewhere along the way, that ability seems to have been lost. Far different from a direct insult. Words can be used wisely or for ill. I try to use them wisely. Perhaps we could all do the same.
jvaski: Did he not promise over and over on national TV that our Iraq troops are coming home this year ?
he also promised to do away with N.A.F.T.A. but we see how far that went...it was a lie to begin with....obama will bring the troups home just in time to go to iran...it all depends what the millitary industrial complex wants him to do... ...he's just a mouth piece...just like the rest of them...

Absolutely - he's a puppet just like the rest of him, and not merely to the military-industrial complex. That complex has ground a tad larger and more inclusive since Eisenhower's day. More like the military-industrial-banking-media complex now (and I probably left out a few).
