thanks for the kind words, but it brought me up to date on life.
What I found was that for someone so educated (masters degree) his spelling was horrid, has a dead wife but is a single parent. Oh yes and he was of a mixed race Canadian and American.
AFter a couple of letters to my hotmail he finally ended up in Nigeria robbed and me I was the only one he could contact. And amazingly he provided me with the doctors private line.
Told him to go to the embassy I sent money there in your name.
There is a forum here SCAM STORIES (near the end of the list, I missed it before) it is hilarious and they talk about the loser of the day and more importantly what their lines are.
advice for people here, dont give your email until you actually meet them, isnt that what the site is for kind of a bit of security? If he doesnt want to then it wasnt meant to be.

venusenvy: Actually my heart breaks for her but at least she found out in time...it could have been waaaay worse
Yes, good she found out early. but I am curious, how did she find out.
I had some guy contact me last week, initially I believed him but when he sent me his Yahoo email address so we can chat, so he can get to know me better ... A Canadian soldier, living in Grand Bend, Ontario, Lambton county he told me all this. I had never even heard of that town, then the next day his emails to me all disappear, then I said aha ...

hopeeyefindyou: There is another success story I just thought about. My neighbor across the street from me. Her son met a girl on line from the Philippines. He went there to meet her and got engaged. He came back home while her parents planned the wedding. When it was time to marry her, he went back to marry her. He had to leave her behind until all the paperwork went through in the courts. She has been happily married to John and has 3 kids... That has to be about, I'm guessing 10 plus years now... for sure.
that is really true...I have a friend that met a filipina on line last 2 yrs. ago, he/my friend went their spent x'mas with her and family,a nd came spring time following yr. he petition her and her two kids.. now their happily married. I guess distance is not an issue, if both of the parties are really want to happened.. I am a filipina too.

I have just read his profile. He is white, of Jewish faith, a widower with children. Masters degree, construction. All the red flags are there. Sentences that start "Am ...." I hear that's one way to spot a Nigerian scammer.

Also his name is made of two first names... very common with scammers.
Incidentally, his intro did NOT include an outside email address. We have to pay close attention because they are slowly getting better at it.
Hi: I personally haven't had experience with the cross boarder dating. I work with someone who has though. This person was from England and the other from Canada...They had met online. Talked for a while and the woman decided to come here to be with this man she met and has been happily married for the past 9 years. So, it can work. People have done it and there's work to do to have that happen. If you feel it's worth the effort, then it's worth it for you. Nobody can really tell you have it works other than yourself and how you feel.
just4sweetie: What experiences have you had when someone is interested in you but lives in another country?
I have had experience meeting someone online and coming across Canada and Up to the Yukon to marry this man. The marriage never took place. After 3 months, the relationship broke down and I stayed here and made my life. I did eventually marry a wonderful man about a year later, though so it was a blessing that I did come to the place I was supposed to be or that wouldn't have happened.
success, failure, pointers
Anyhow, take care and good luck with it. Sincerely, Katherine
is he a widower with children, living somewhere in Texas? in his mid-40s?
I got that one too. Also, the widower in New York who owns a huge building and is a building contractor. He said he was in love with the smile in my pic.
I am SOOO NOT smiling in MY pic!!
Also, I am sick and tired of them playing the "my wife died in an auto accident and I'm raising my son alone," story.
I'm sure that this scenario happens, but not with every other guy who sends me an email and the first email gives me his yahoo email address.

the widowers with children are in full force. he has a Masters degree, right?
I have added to my profile "I need money and want yours so unless you are willing to give me some don't waste your time contacting me".

Markphillips just viewed my profile but I know he won't contact me because I say in my profile no widowers with children.
2intrigued: I had a love interest in Michigan (8 hours drive). We were ready to meet when someone closer to him appeared out of the woodwork....truly upsetting to say the least
