No, never conversing

In fact I rarely confide in anyone and on the rare occasions I have, I've usually regretted it as it seems that most people can't keep things to themselves.

It's interesting how people will confide in total strangers - my role in customer service often finds me empathising with people who are going through a tough time or sometimes maybe they are just plain lonely.

It seems it's all part of the job and I hope they go away feeling better for having shared those confidences.

Welcome wine

My hairdresser and I do chat though, she's a young, alternative kind of girl and I like her a lot.

She's a mad keen traveller like me and has just returned from backpacking around Indonesia on her own, staying away from the tourist traps.

We often talk about travelling and the places we'd like to explore, she also enjoys djembe drumming and takes weekly classes - she thinks I might like it too, lil sweety laugh

Not I dont confide in hairdressers.

If I confide in anyone it is with the knowledge that this a human being and that if I tell them something that might upset them, or interest them in anyway, that they will by nature talk to someone about it.

About the only people I will confide in are good friends that I know well, and know it is not in there nature to talk about other people.

nothing against hairdressers, but I am also one of those people that hates sitting in a chair while someone cuts my hair! I have alsways been the same since a kid!peace

No, never, chat about the day, work, family in general but don't feel the need to confide in someone who is probably sick of hearing people's whines and whinges.

I work in aged care though and am always surprised how the oldies confide in you about all kinds of stuff even within half an hour of meeting you. confused

I take it all with a pinch of salt and keep it confidential - they deserve that at least. teddybear

Well there was one hairdresser that I confided in, but she has known me since I was born and has been a close friend to the family for close to 40 years. Other than that no I have never confided in anyone other than a close friend or family member. cheers

No - not me - but have had massage therapists tell me their latest life stories each time I had an appointment - I moved on not long after - blimey - I want to relax and chill out, not have someone talking at me constantly!

conversing

You would think that would be part of the training.....tune in to the client! doh

I'm a single mum with no time or money for a professional haircut. But on the rare occasions I have been I just want them to shut the hell up and cut my hair. I really don't want to make small talk. I just want to sit there and enjoy the peace and quiet lol.

I am a massage therapist and I go with the client.. you can tell if they want to talk all the way through or if they just wanna chill

besides.. I usually ask them what they have come to see me for.. if they say they have aches and pains etc then they not usually there to have a quiet relaxing massage.. its deep tissue work they want... and you need to talk to find out things during the massage .. if they say they want to relax and chill out then its minimal talk with relaxing music

and I dont think you can train people about that stuff.. its more of an intuition thing in my opinion dunno

Interesting comments...hug handshake Yes its not something you can train for although if a hairdresser doesn,t have the instincts to tell if a client just wants to chill or be entertained then there is communication training for that...its a fine line..certainly having a personality and having great people skills is paramount to being successful..its a very personal trade..a one on one.. experience..there,s no point being a technical expert if the communication is poor. sad flower sad flower sad flower
