Merriweather: Awwwh, what ? give away riches... I doubt it very muchly. The Vatican City is tucked within its own walls... and not everyone is welcome... Gosh, I was refused entry by St. Peter for not covering my arms and legs..

With this attitude, do you honestly think for a moment...

Not a chance ... but I suppose... never say never.. cos the poor church clergy cannot get new priests to join their fellowship. I am awaiting a grand announcement which I reckon will come... and that will be that priests dont have to be celibate anymore..

Mind you... I dont much care for religion anyways.. it just doesn't do it for me....

Religion doesn’t do it for me either but it still holds the world with emotional ransom. They still have the most political power!
All the pope has to say Mother Mary came to me last night in a dream and people will be awaiting the next command.

Funny thing AAwave

The world has millions of religious followers... the bit where I get really confused is that I have met many people in my life time, and only a couple of them were religious ... am I meeting all the wrong people???

doh

Even my parents taught me at a young age to only believe in yourself and not religion... rose rose rose

Merriweather: I think that soon we will not be able to buy cheap Chinese imports... it wont take long for those people ( the new generation) to kick up and be wanting lots of money for their work... they will be looking around them and wanting the riches that they see.. in fact, I think its happening already.

As for depression, I used to be able to work and save. These days I pretty well work to survive...

What makes me sad tho, is the house prices are already too high, and I sometimes worry how my grandchild is going to cope in her adult life. I wonder how she is going to afford a house.

I am well peeved that our PM wants to do this carbon tax thing. We are not a country, we are a continent, with barely enough carbon emissions to fly a kite compared to the rest of the worlds densley populated countries and cities. ...

I think she just wanted to mark out her spot in history,

OH, and try and retrieve some of the $$$ she has spent in waffles. like this grand idea about giving everyone internet access.. Well, the country people got that via Satellite...
so what if we dont have fast internet.. Jeez. as long as we have a measure of satisfactory speed, I'd rather that than have huge taxes to cover up the fact that she has these delusions of granduer.

rant over...

No Merri she just wants to tax us till we drop she couldn't give a stuff about it but to get the greens vote she had to do that and saw it was a nice little earner too.

Funny thing is the greens now would agree to anything to stay in their cosy spots.
They know if Labor loses power they do too.

sigh

I think it's been about being able to get married. Celibacy probably wasn't much of an issue. it never stopped some priests and nuns as well know. But they haven't been able to tie the knot, which has seen many a good clergyman/woman leave despite their good work within the Church. I have known a few and one priest did actually leave and get married. I remember when he came to pick me up one day when I was about 19 or so, to go to some youth event with him, my mother told me to 'watch out for him' and I wondered what on earth she was talking about. He was a priest, after all, how on earth could he be interested in me, I thought, naiively so. I lost touch with him, and later found out he had left and married an Italian lassie. My mother obviously picked him to have that wandering eye. laugh A wonderful man though. High up in mental health last I heard.

It certainly has to do with social circles and also the mind refuses to acknowledge everything that goes on around us. Go for a drive on a Sundays all the churches are full… in some states more then others of course.

I use to always hear about the other sides of belief, like Masonic beliefs, Illuminati…etc the organised politics and what is in forefront was an illusion and a smoke screen. I would never believe it because I could not fathom how you could organise people to follow a plan spaning over centuries. Then I read a book by Manly Palmer Hall called the “Secret teaching of all ages” it can be downloaded as an e-book.

Here is the thing, people can be organised through a common belief. You can set agendas long term plans, assign symbols as a reminder etc. You probably already know about the Masonic emblems/signs on a one US dollar bill… here are some but there are hundreds of others.

Also our $ dollar sign is a snake rapped around a stick honouring the old reptilian gods. The question is who is in control? and does it matter if the world falls apart on paper? they have their gold stocks and their long term survival plans.

AgentAjax: There is no doubt another war to due to the staled world market. I wonder why, the big banks have intrepid people with loans at very low rates, then almost doubling interest rates within few years. Good idea if you are a banker but it doesn’t help the world market if people have no money to spend.

Well, if people have no money to spend the banks will eventually also loose out. If speculation would be taxed most money would go into productive activities that actually create wealth - manufacturing, research and services.

Speculation only creates perceived wealth. You *think* your home is worth so much because someone paid such a price for another, similar home. SO you think you have equity in your home and borrow against it to have a holiday, but a new car, new furniture, a pool, etc. Now, when home prices are on the rise, this creates inflation because it generates an artificial demand based on perceived wealth. However, if some guys start paying less for similar homes, suddenly the equity in your home evaporates. And many people soon will find that they have more debt than their home is worth.

The only way to recover from the crisis would be to reverse what was done over the last decade, when the rich got big tax cuts, while the rest of the people were asked to show wages restraint for the sake of keeping inflation low. This was a big fat lie, for the inflation is not caused by people on low incomes, but by people who speculate. They push up real estate prices, and in turn increase commercial rents, which businesses have to charge on their products. Commercial rent is a significant component in the price. I know someone who was paying $30k/month for her beauty saloon rent. She had to therefore earn $40k/month to break even. Now if her rent was only $5k/month, paying more to her employees would not have been a problem and she could have provided her services a lot cheaper.

But commercial landlords are not willing to negotiate, they most often rather allow their tenants to go bankrupt than negotiate lower rent. And they cannot negotiate because they paid a very high price and the bank expects the repayments.

So why is it that the worker is punished for the crimes of the speculators? Why the home owners are flogged with the interest rate increase when they did no wrong? Maybe because those in the government have a vested interest not to touch these cowboys, for they also own prime real estate, why would they let prices to fall?

The way out of this mess is to tax the rich, remove corporate welfare, boost small businesses by significantly lowering the interest rate for them on their borrowings, and give money to the poor (increase wages, increase welfare) - to reverse the damage done, to lower wealth disparity, which is the problem. This alone would create cashed up shoppers and save business. That money that you take from the rich is not theirs anyway. It was stolen from the lower class by telling fat lies to them, like "trickle-down economy" and blaming them for the inflation.

Pop the bubbles, tax speculation. Put a 90% tax on rent increases, put a 90% tax on price increases.

I don't think many people would complain about $180k median house prices, for that is what it should be, which is 3x the median income.

You, everyone, better put your super into cash equivalents else you will find most of it evaporating to a much worse degree than last time in 2008-2009.

Whatever is going on with the world economy today, will sure as eggs, be changing by mid-end of this and next week, what with the Murdoch empire coming undone at the seams, the US near bankruptsy and the EU holding on by a thread...

Throw in a few more natural disasters, and we should be just about done.dancing
