StillOfTheNight: Truth be told, I am so used to cooking for myself that I'm not sure if I would want someone always cooking for me. Besides, the person who cooks do NOT do dishes afterwards :)
Ha Ha. I like the way you think but actually when I cook; I also do the dishes as well. I cook because I do like to eat healthy and I make sure when I cook for someone; they have a healthy meal. I can't understand why anyone would eat things like pizza, chinese food, deep fried, or heavily breaded foods. Our society is so damn obese and is costing our health care millions of dollars. All it takes is some exercise and healthy eating.

agreed
and I am very particular regarding the food I eat - do not eat a traditional meant & potatoes diet so I am certainly not going to cook that way - nor do I want anyone else to cook like that for me - so picky I am not sure anyone could cook for me on a regular basis

justabum: Well this sort of explains your question....maybe.
A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband. Suddenly her husband burst into the kitchen :
"Careful ... CAREFUL!" he yelled. "Put in some more butter! Oh my GOD! You're cooking too {email address removed} MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! They need more butter. Oh my GOD! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK! Careful ... CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL! You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never! Turn them! Hurry up! Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them. Use the salt. USE THE SALT! THE SALT!"
The wife stared at him. "What the hell is wrong with you?" she said. "You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs after all these years?"
The husband calmly replied, "I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm driving with you in the car."The moral of the story ?....man is better at driving a car and woman is bether at cooking in the kitchen.

RDM59: Why are all the worlds best chefs men ? ....
Coz cooking is a piece of piss ..... it's all about timing, that's all ....
and here I was thinking that it was man's way of saying - up you!!! if I'm going to cook I'm going to get paid - whereas women are expected to do it free 365 days a year....
Lot of people don't realize cooking can be not that hard depending on the meal.
Home made mac n cheese (not the kraft crap in a box).
Elbow macaronis (or any type of pasta you like) shredded cheddar cheese ground meat
Boil macaronis according to direction and fry up the ground meat breaking it up into little pieces.
Preheat oven to 350 degree F, layer the macaroni and ground meat with more macaroni on top, then a generous helping of shredded cheese spread on top, bake in oven for 15 - 20 minutes or when cheese is sufficiently melted.

justabum: Wouldn' be great if all women learned to cook a meal at home, instead of getting their man fat on the McDonalds diet...don't you think so ? Plus, how long is gonna take before todays women realize, that the best and the surest way to man's heart is through his stomach ?

Because, surprisingly, a woman's life does not revolve around 'her' man. A man is not a child that needs to be taken under 'his' woman's wing.
the surest way to man's heart is through his stomach - Are we really supposed to struggle for a man's heart? What is it - a treasure, a trophy??

They don't have to learn to cook. It's already in their genes as part of their DNA code in the chromosomes.
Lets face it , weather its a male or female ,most people now days consider cooking as Warming a pre packed meal purchased from a super market ,or just heating up something on a Stove like potatos as cooking .
A long way off are the days when people made pies at home and even made there own pastry .
Even the simplicity of making your own biscuits in an oven have gone for most .
Life skills are not taught as essential any more .
Some cant be bothered even reading a cook book , and when they do ,they think a Chocolate Cakes going to jump out .
Good Morning Jonnt, I think for the most part you may be right when it comes to people warming a pre-packed meal from a supermarket and calling that a meal. Of course it depends what they purchased. However, I have to disagree with you when you say that it's a long way off when people make homemade pies and biscuits and their own pastries. It is very common at least by me for people to do the pies, biscuits and pastries. And it is mandatory in the public schools at the Junior High School level to have a cooking class and learn how to plan a balanced meal, cook and bake and even set up the table nicely. What happens as the kids get older is that they become lazy and expect mom to do it all or eventually resort to the fast food lifestyle for instant gratification for their stomachs. We have an epidemic of childhood obesity where kids love Krafts macaroni & cheese and call that a complete meal. Very sad indeed. I think the young kids need more than just a cooking class, but literally get a chance at that level to do an internship with professional cooks, bakers in restaurants and catering businesses. It would keep them off the streets too where trouble surrounds them. No doubt they will be able to then hon their skills a bit more and maybe eventually land a job with a business because they do have some serious experience. That's the element of training that I believe is missing and would make a difference in reducing childhood obesity in the future. Not every student will wind up taking an internship serious but to offer the responsible kids the opportunity for a future career is a win-win sitution all the way around. Also give the businesses a tax break for taking on students in internships. To me it makes perfect sense and is a good use of our school tax dollars. JMHO!!
Amen Dogmal!! I wish I knew where the smack the man button was too. I think the guy is actually a troll. I think he's just sitting back and watching to see if anyone will start a fight and is probably just laughing behind his computer screen. However, I think this forum has also brought out some interesting points about food, planning, preparation and lifestyle. The troll is being quiet because he knows that he will be smashed flat like a fly squashed with a fly swatter if he gets back on.
