RayfromUSA: Gaddafi was the best thing that ever happened to Libya.

The NATO puppets taking over now will be a million times worse.

Well it looks like George doesn't agree with you on that one...laugh

In response to: Reports coming from Libya claim Gaddafi was seriously wounded and later died from his injuries.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-15387872

It's interesting that showing pictures of a shot Gaddafi (covered in blood) is tolerated by the media and world leaders, yet we couldn't be shown a similar image of Bin Laden when he was allegedly "killed". The reason is perfectly obvious, the person the seals shot was NOT Bin Laden, which is why the US dumped the unidentified person at sea. Bin Laden was already dead, and the embarrassment of admitting it was too much for the US. They failed, yet again!!

Obama probably wishes the Seals had shot Joe Biden. Biden's been making a lot of gaffs lately.

Albertaghost: As do we all however, Gadaffi did not share that sentiment as he resisted all calls for him to attend this, and any court.

Yes I understand that, but this would have been the ideal opportunity to arrest him and make him sit through a trial rather than murder him and drag his body through the streets. It´s disgusting, and on a par, in my opinion, with his own behaviour.

Futark: We can't allow a Libyan leader to have control over his population but we let UN get overruled when a US president wants to attack another country? (Bush vs Iraq)

The UNSC gave member states the authorization to take whatever means necessary to bring Iraq into compliance with the dozen or so ceasefire terms it was in and had been in violation of for over a decade.

Futark: Bombed flight.. 260 ppl dead
WTC .. 2726
Hiroshima.. 90.000-166.000
Nagasaki 60.000 - 80.000
Iraq conflict 102.417 - 601.027

How many civilians is it reasonable to kill in retaliation?

Iraq had nothing to do with 911. It was in violation of ceasefire terms.

definitely a bad hair day for him.... IMO his beating leading to his death was kind of brutal and unnecessary from what I saw just now on Fox.

Libya already has a government so there will be no 'taking over' as you put it Ray.

Indeed, I don't think any of us would condone those kind of barbaric acts.

United Nations did not give permission to the US to start bombing Iraq.. US used it's veto to go ahead and do it anyway...

Iraq was not in violation of any ceasefire terms. There was not one single proof presented on existence of weapons of mass destruction..

UNSC Resolution gave the US authority to use "any means necessary to ensure Iraq complies with this and all previous resolutions."

Any means meas any means, invasion and regime change included.

They did not provide unconditional and immediate cooperation with UNICOM inspectors, they did not carry out the repatriation of foreign nationals, recognize the borders of Kuwait, carry out human right reforms, conduct war reparations or reparations for environmental damages, proe they had rid themselves of all WMD materials, plans and aspirations.

All were conditions for the ceasefire found within UNSC Resolutions 660 to 1441.

You're right, its bad taste to display the mans dead body like that, however, you have to remember that this is a Middle Eastern internal conflict and as such the combatants do not observe the rules of engagement as set out in the Geneva Convention and therefore justice (as perceived by the combatants) is more immediate and brutal.

Well I was about to type the laughing emoticon but I didn´t want to appear rude!

I don´t believe the "rules of engagement as set out in the Geneva Convention" as you state, are particularly heeded in any conflict by anyone.

The United States asserted this was a breach of Resolution 1441 but failed to convince the UN Security Council to pass a new resolution authorizing the use of force due to lack of evidence

Actually they didn't fail to have the new resolution passed as they never tabled it seeing as how they already had the authorization from 1441 and seven other resolutions giving the same powers.

So they used 'any means necessary' to do the job as was stated they were authorized to do in 1441 and seven other resolutions.

Tell me, what limitations does 'any means necessary' have?

The breach they claimed was not accepted and therefore they could not act upon 1441... I am not contesting 1441 .. I am contesting the right to use it as the right itself was denied by UN

The breach as described by Blix on March 7 2003 when he stated that Iraq had not cooperated immediately and unconditionally? That was accepted by all and, as it was Iraq's 'last and final opportunity' it was acted upon.
