It was a surprise to me because I didn't know she was pregnant until she started showing. I've only talked to her a few times in the years that I have been attending the church. Just because someone is surprised doesn't mean that it is a bad thing or that I or anyone else would treat her any differently. You still don't get it...you can't say how someone will feel about any given situation because you are not them. You must be the one that would truly treat a teen mother differently. fieldworking: I'm sorry that people treated you that way but I'm not like that. And as far as I know, no one has said or done anything to make her feel anxious. I know this is going to come out wrong but I'll say it anyway. Just because you experienced it doesn't mean that she will. She may get it at school or when she is out in public, but when she comes to church...she is not treated any differently. I mean, people may offer to help her get up and do the polite thing. I mean, I live in the south (southeastern US) and we tend to be a little more polite. It's our southern hospitality. We were raised to be polite.
