wash2u: Names are being bandied left right and centre.

Gina who inherited a lot and wants to keep earning money because that is what her father taught her, "be frugal and don't waste it."

Hawke who let his Treasurer let us become a Banan Republic.

Carr who managed to get NSW near enough to being bankrupt, sold off all the power companies that rightfully belonged to the local Councils, and also thieved $650 million from my super fund.

If Aust had followed Joh B-P's example in the 60s/70s by introducing a resource tax on mining throughout Aust, we would have been better off now. Then again Laboring does come up with "original" ideas and our saviour Juliar has cottoned on to the idea and has decided that we must make up of missing out for 40 years by going to the extreme now and getting back 40 years of lost revenue in 1 year.

When you look at it Howard was truly a "walker" and not a "runner." He did proceed with caution thinking more in the long-term, not that we will give you $160 in your bank acount now (if you are so lucky) and another payment in 10 months time to remind you of the bribe.

rolling on the floor laughing

You forgot Whitlam, he stole my pencils and exerice books, and I had nothing to write with at school...crying

bubbles2012: Venere I work in an industry that employes over 1200 people, most of the people on the staff are from overseas on visas... each day we see people coming in for interviews, every other day, our canteen is filled with inductees - but not too many of them are Australian... why???
The company uses Seek as their recruitment base, they must be over 18 to work there because of the machinery etc., but I hardly see any young Australian people - I am in my late 40's and I got a job there 2 weeks after applying online... so they are not discriminating... the company pays slightly above the award wage, so why is it that there is a mass of Koreans, Viet, Thai, Phillo, Chinese, Kiwi's, and South Africian, and Indian's getting the jobs... if yo

My standing joke now is that I no longer speak English, I speak Korean and Indian because in my section that's who I work with... and I tell you something I'm the one that feels discriminated against...
u go overseas recently, there are ads everywhere to go to australia and beat the downturn in the economy, good wages and conditions

venere08: What is this woman thinking???

As if she can't afford to pay Aussie rates to Aussie workers!!

And what is our PM thinking, allowing this to happen??

Money and just money!
There is no investment into the local workforce so the mining companies are paying for it now, but instead off training people too do the jobs they would rather train people to speak English eventually?

She can go jump off a Clift before I would work for her! Can you imagine the death rate going up at a work site where half the workers can’t read the English warning signs?

This is a disaster just waiting to happen! But Gina will still get her money?
professor thumbs down

As a child, Hancock showed a keen interest in mining and prospecting and discovered asbestos at Wittenoom Gorge at the age of ten.
He staked a claim at Wittenoom in 1934 and began mining blue asbestos there in 1938 with the company Australian Blue Asbestos.
The mine attracted the attention of national behemoths CSR Limited, who purchased the claim in 1943. Hancock retained a 49% share after the sale, but appears to have become quickly disillusioned about this arrangement, complaining that CSR viewed their 51% share as a licence to ignore his views. He sold the remainder of his claim in 1948. The mine would later become the source of much controversy, when hundreds of cases of asbestos-related diseases came to light.
Blue asbestos is possibly 100 times more hazardous than white asbestos, as the fibres are much smaller (around 2.5 to 10 micrometres). The inhalation of asbestos results in illness and in most cases death, due to asbestosis, mesothelioma (of which asbestos is the only known cause) and other lung diseases. This aetiology was described, reported and explained to the management of ABA as well as being the subject of many medical journal articles.

Crikey Robp... I sure do learn a lot reading your posts... thanx.

But, doesn't it strike you weird, that when serious $$ is involved, most people turn a blind eye to the dangers... wrong thing to do, but now, they are paying for it... wave

If at arms length we observe our activities, after studying Lam Rim while at arms length the observer, then its possible to obtain some insight into our own harmful negative activities. The activities of our body speech and mind create our tomorrow experience, by ceasing all negative karma causing rebirth we cease cause for suffering rebirths. Benefiting others is the path for all inspiring would be if could be Buddha's known as the Sanga, those travelling the path explained in twenty seven words by the Buddha...
