Dadude62: Thanks for your answers.
Please quit apologizing for your beliefs folks. There is no need to keep emphasizing that it is your opinion,,,, I KNOW THAT. And I am not offended by it. And you may quote scripture all you want.
I don't consider what someone said that someone else said as proof of anything. Then again I might see some truth in it.
I am not a bible scholar so I would be interested in what you think the bible says about what God has in store for me for not going along with what the bible says that He said about the sabbath.
As far as the catholic church being satan's tool goes, wasn't it the dragon (the devil) who gave power to the beast (the catholic church that great accuser and deceiver) to rule mankind for 1250 years after which it received a mortal wound in it's head, the reformation? Somewhere in Revelations I think. I take it a step further, I think all of religion is that tool. And the bible may also be a part of that. I also think God and Satan are one and same. You might say that satan has been God's best friend for he kept him in business all these years.

I can't answer what God has in store for you. I can say that he is very irritated that people aren't keeping the sabbaths and holy days which he established. I can also say that after the return of Christ, people of all nations will keep the sabbaths and holy days, and will even offer sacrifices to God. Yes, that's right. It never fails to amaze me how so many Christians quote the bible out of context and ignore what they don't want to hear. You've heard Christians use the phrase "a house of prayer for all nations" or "a church for all nations." Well, this is where that comes from:
Isaiah 56:6-7
6 “Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant—
7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain,
And make them joyful in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices
Will be accepted on My altar;
For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

In the very same verse, which is prophetic, myriads of Christians quote, "For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations,” but will turn around in the next breath and tell you that burnt offerings and sacrifices have been abolished. They have fits when told that Jesus will bring sacrifices back during the millenium, yet both things are in the same verse in the bible.
Quoting out of context is so confusing and deceitful. dunno

But I like the book. I like the Qu'ran too, and I'm currently reading a book on Zen Buddhism. It is a wonderful way of getting a extensive comprehension of the human specie intellectual development, in their world view as well as the view of themselves.

Excellent, that is admirable, Truly, Good for you...

Iseek: Yep, I agree, I don't, can't deny that Jesus was recorded as being on earth, however I view him as being a great leader of Man, a Shaman, A Preacher, and no doubt popular with those of that time and indeed now.

Not so sure about not needing a savior tho....
thumbs upJesus was a human being.

LuvHurts51: Not at all. We have a diversity of people participating in this discussion. It was created because there was a need for a place for people to express diverse opinions about Christianity and religion in general. In fact, I think those who wear the "Christian" label are in the minority here.
I'm really not sure what you're saying here. Could you elucidate, please?
Why "questioning" Christianity?

Let´s question Islam,for instance....

But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Dadude62: [quote

I think that on some psychological level those who don't believe in free will are not able to, or don't want to, take personal responsibility for their lives.
It's all God's and the devil's fault.

Again I agree, Exactly my point about the psychology of man with reference to the Devil/God and Hell/Heaven thing.

If man took responsibility for his/her own actions (Free Will) one would have to accept ones actions and the Consequences of such actions or failure to act...

No hell for doing wrong, just taking responsibility for the action, and in doing good, No Heaven just the reward of doing good..

AtwoZ: Why "questioning" Christianity?

This is a thread I started as a result of what I considered off topic long discussions we were getting into on a poll that I had about whether Christians and Jews believe that the Bible is the true word of God, and should it be taken literally. People were asking questions about the basics of Christianity, and clarity of certain bible scriptures, and some thought that I was refusing to discuss certain topics because I was being evasive. Therefore, I started this thread so that we can discuss Christianity, why we believe, why we don't believe, etc., and allow people to enter both their positive and negative thoughts about Christianity. If someone else would like to start threads on other religions, I'm good with that. I just don't feel educated enough to enter into informed discussions of very many of the world's religions.

I just can't wrap my mind around a God who get's his feelings hurt by anything I do or say or think. After all he created us as human, both good and bad. I just can't see where a creator would create the unlimited universe with all it's mystery and us in it, just to have us on our knees so he/she can "feel" good, or feel "irritated" if I don't. Or a God who is "pleased" if we burn an animal for him. All this is just religious fear mongering I think. Many have these fears deeply ingrained in them, passed on from generation to generation from birth on, and reenforced by clergy. Fears of condemnation, torture for eternity.
One quote I liked from Ellen Whites book is,,, "the greatest lie the devil told is that God would condemn us for eternity and delight in it". Who is that liar? Who is that deceiver?

Oh, stringman, please watch these videos. They are part 1 and part 2 of an interesting teaching on Eclipses - Signs, Seasons, and Convocations. Granted, we don't know the day or the hour, but we MAY know the season, and we are told to be watchful, like the wise virgins.

When I first saw Mark present this information, it was April of 2008. He pointed out that on Sukkot in the fall of that year, there would be an eclipse and that should be a sign that something big was going to happen. Sure enough the day of the eclipse the stock market crashed. I happen to believe that this marked the beginning of the 7 years of tribulation. Anyway, the videos have some incredible info on God's appointed days, signs in the heavens, and how it all relates to us.

Yes, it's Mark Biltz. He's the pastor at my home church in Tacoma, WA. I've known him for about 6 years and he is an amazing man. I truly believe that God guides his ministry.
