eumundibabe: I CLEAN HOUSES FOR A LIVING...AND I CAN TELL YOU....NOONE IS GOING WITHOUT ANYTHING IN THIS COUNTRY.....i have people tel me they are doing it tough when they drive the latest cars.......fridge full.......wine in the rack.............working and sometimes not..........wardrobes full of clothes......even a spare room for guest who come to stay occassionally.........afford a dog or cat or both or two or three.......shoes of their feet........second shops chocked full of goods people buy and then disgard cause their simply just sick of a particular colour or style.............I AM THE ONLY PERSON I KNOW THAT HAS a analog TV with a digital box!!!!!!!!!!! I find it in credible that people dont like a new tax based on the fact that they think they are already doing it tough.....................have a look around ur home and tell me what poor is?

I have a house full of energy efficient appliances now! My last power bill for the two off us was $152 for 62 days my last gas bill was $35 for 62 days, my cupboard is bare so is the fridge, I work full time and have the kid, with a first home owners mortgage, my car is 12 years old, there is no luxuries at my home as we live from week to week!
Wake up we are broke! As for the internet? Its cheaper to pay your bills online than drive too the post office every time you need to pay a bill, plus its tax deductible when you have a kid at school?
The carbon tax is a tax on everything!
Its worse than the GST! As nobody can stop a business from over charging?

Climate change is real! Man made climate change is a myth! This carbon tax wont fix anything!
It will just cost people their jobs!

I looked at your profile. You say you smoke 'regularly'. Bet you also like your beer. No wonder your fridge and pantry are bare. Look at your priorities. Then you have the gumption to blame the bloomin carbon tax. Jeez, boy can some people pile it on thick!doh

As they say, you can fool some people some of the time, but not all people all of the time.

Hi Blizzard

conversing

I dont have energy efficient everything. Just solar for the hot water on my roof, but the sun doesnt peep out in winter, never thought about it when I had the appliances put in..

my electric bill received last week was $505 for the quarter... I attribute this to the heating cycle..

and since my reverse cycle heating ducted thingo cost me a fortune about 15 years ago... I intend to make good use of it..

It really doesn't matter whether I heat the house up for one, or for 20 people.. and because I am one, I have to pay... I expect to pay, but Jeez Louise, I reckon that is expensive enough. I know it will go higher...
sigh

I dont wish to be rude to the op, but goddam, I am so cross with all of this... this is just a case of attempting to brainwash the nation, all because the greens can tipple the votes.. very mad

I cannot and will not believe that with the onset of modern cons that we have had for about 50 or so years, and remembering that a lot of the countries on the earth have had much less for much less time, that we can so ruin a big solid earth...

But what I can see, is the earth doing damage all of its own accord. JMO of course. australia

Phew Merri makes me feel a bit better as just paid my quarterly electric bill $623 to Red Energy but about $100 cheaper than most....got the older type box reverse cycle Aircon/Heater got 3 adults one child in the house so a lot of hotwater used for showers, I do the washing in cold water, had a row with my daughter as she uses the electric clothes dryer a lot and boy they dont run cheap.

Everyone has an electric blanket so turn the heater off at night' the weather forecast is going to be minus 3 for a couple of days so might have to leave the heater on as it really effects my arthritis, think I had better turn off everything at the power point like computer, TV ect no more standby. sigh

My electricity bill was higher over summer because of the aircon. Normally around $140. Gas bill is usually $100 per quarter rising lots in winter when I do use the heater during the week - fire on weekends. I must be doing something right.

Europe has had Carbon Tax for some time now. Started because industry was not doing anything about pollution. It started low but increased over the years as industries became more efficient, meaning less taxes coming in. But there were still lots who didn't improve and these were the ones hit hardest.

Not sure of the figures for EU but the tax they will have in about 5 years will what we are starting on, while our tax will be double in that time.

I liked Labor's example of Tony Abbott's Carbon Tax that would tax the top companies to pay for mum's to take maternity leave.

Goodness, where do I start? Your definition of 'alternative' is only one of many. Some would say living the life of the Amish is the only real alternative lifestyle. We know there is everything inbetween. I was merely making a point that along the way, we still choose what degree of 'alternative' we want to live.

Well, holding a grudge against a decision made by a politician that hurt your once extremely wealthy hip pocket sounds like it has blurred your ability to judge all other decisions, possibly very good ones. I still don't know your position on carbon tax from your emotional rant.

As for you referring to me as a spoilt brat? How so? Everything I have I achieved on my own(except for creating my son). This includes having my little place in Italy which ONE day I hope to afford to live between the two countries. But when I do, it will be from my own efforts. Check your rear end Twinbro. You seem to have something stuck up there.

How can anybody love a new tax?

The Lib's bought in the GST which has helped create a new kind of poor, the working poor that rely on Government handouts to survive

Now we have labor's new tax once again on the people and those most of all less likely to afford it yet again. So again the government offers yet another handout to increase peoples dependency yet again.

The only thing this tax will do is bolster the pockets of the government!

I don't like Abbott, however if he is truly going to drop this new tax on the people of Australia, then be assured he has my vote! -.-

We all know he won't be able to drop the tax, just as Labor did not and could not drop the GST once it was in place. It's not just the reintroduction of a new tax, but all that is attached to the carbon tax in terms which includes not just 'handouts' as you put it, but genuine changes to income tax laws which put money into the pockets of millions by lowering thresholds in very real and meaningful terms. Not a simple thing to 'drop the tax'.

I know what you are saying Kizzy but the trouble is with lump sums they can be spent on other things like the pokies ect which will be gone in a couple of hours... in another of my posts I mentioned this, as you know that some people cannot be paid like that it would have been better to increase the weekly payments they get.

I have seen as we all have those lonely oldies that sit on the pokies and mindlessly put thier money in those awful machines also people on welfare that do not know what saving means, but what happens when the bills come in that have been affected by the carbon tax ...ok I know that they can do the same thing with increases in weekly payments but at least it wont be blown in one hit.

JMO I think it would have been a better idea to give coupons to pay towards the Gas and Electricity or even better increase the subsidies that these companies already give people on a pension maybe.

In Shepperton about half an hour from here the Goverment is trialing a another way of paying welfare and that is cutting back what they get paid and in its place giving out food coupons instead as a lot of the money they get is being spent on grog and cigs so of course their children are going hungry.

Oh I dont know what the answer is but I do know that because of this new tax there will be another generation of poor coming up. sigh

The tax is the result of a lie ("There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead") and is intended to so something toward fixing a problem that does not exist.
It will destroy what little remains of productive industry in Australia.
If you support it, you are a fool. There is no kind way to put it.

I dunno...confused but if Julia really believed in the global warming theory, and that is her perogative to do so.... why does it have to include a tax... Crikey, cant she solve it without taxing... Why does it always have to come down to money...

So clearly, she is a small minded dingdong, who runs to money when she and her ministers need to be putting her head down and sorting it some other way... I mean, if she really believes it... grin

given that the so called global warming syndrome has meant it hasn't stopped raining since the drought broke a year ago, and as no island in the pacific has actually been flooded, also as Iran is apparently passing laws to close the Strait of Hormuz and Japan has passed laws to continue importing Iran's Oil skirting around the European Embargo, and government again has dropped cash on all thee heads, of course sorted the Murray River flow. Politicians have managed to talk lots of crap, increase taxes, promise tax decreases, borrow billions, increase politicians pay, entertain everyone in the country with there wit.
