Bit like respect. All of us have respect for the values of many people. Not always "hero: status.

Like said before by someone else, I have a lot of respect for people that have overcome their adversities to have fullfilment in their life.

I have an aunt who developed polio back in the 50s and is confined to a wheelchair. It ended her music career (piano) as she could no longer attend lectures at Sydney Uni (at age 12) nor work the pedals on the piano. She drove a manual Cortina for a number of years, with a few modifications. Until automatics came at a reasonable price. She could manage to get over gutters being 150mm (6") high whereas as today wheelchair bound people are complaining about a 40mm bump at pram crossings.

I never looked up to her in real life as she was inches shorted than me, but the person who has inspired me is a friend.

She was inspiring as everytime something tried to knock her down she just shook herself off and got back at it.
Double hip replacements at 20, had to learn to walk all over again
At 23 she was in hospital for months and declared likely to be a vegetable by US specialists

By 25 she was holding down a job as PA to a professor, by mid 30's owning her own home and having 1 hip out and learning to walk all over again, and then early 40's having a major car accident, and have you guessed... learned to walk all over again. Then after all that developed bladder cancer, it finally got her but not without a hell of a fight.

She has taught me the meaning of courage, determination and I am proud to have been able to be her friend and call her friend

Merriweather: Ummn, Blizzard, is the mirror a newspaper, if not.. stop staring at yourself in the mirror, vanity is not cool.

I shave and brush my teeth each morning, its not vanity its personal hygiene! And I don’t buy news papers! Its against my green values, sure I will open up the job section and worry the boss, but that would be all,

Its my personal mission to give the boss at least one hart attack each year!

I admire people who have worked their guts out to achieve their goals and life ambitions, especially where the odds are against them.

Recently read Ita Buttrose's autobiography and last night watched 'Iron Lady' the film about Margaret Thatcher starring Meryl Streep (who was brilliant incidently).

These women, love 'em or hate 'em, were both pioneers in their own way as far as making it to the top in what were traditionally mens' domains.

They broke through the barriers through sheer determination to achieve exactly what they set out to do, and that, to me, is worthy of admiration as well as being incredibly inspiring thumbs up

The ones i think are TRUE hero`s are the diggers. Never been inspired by anyone, not even my old man as he passed when i was 14 yrs old and i don`t remember much about him.
