So in order for a woman to be considered sociable and not considered weird she would have to have a cell phone? hmm I must be unsociable then and weird cause I chose not to have a cell phone anymore.I'm just trying to make sure I understand what you're getting at.

For me a cell phone is a very useful gadget.
Unfortunately, due to crime we have to have alarm systems at home and in business and they send the signal when necessary to the cell phones along to the Alarm's company and the police.
If you do not need them, good for you!

The cell phone overheated and the little ear mics never fit in my tiny ear canals, so my ears got too hot. I also considered the chance that brain tumors might be caused by cell phone use (Mobile phones can cause brain tumours, court rules ).
As a kid, I was never the one to rush to the phone to answer it in our home and spending time outside playing with friends took precedence over talking to people on the phone. When someone tells me I need a phone, I shrug and ask, Why? Email and skype work.

It is interesting that there are very few payphones around anymore. I wonder if that phenomenon is akin to when city rail tracks were torn out and people were forced to buy cars because the easy commute system was destroyed?

Public phone booths are pretty much gone because it was the way drug dealers made their connections. If they used a cell phone the deal could be traced. So the drug dealers stopped using their private cell phones and now use throw-away cell phones.

I don't know. you have a computer obviously. At what point does the "cell phone" become an issue? Do you mean that you also do not have a land line? Do you live on your own or with your parents? What about your kids? how do they reach you? Well. those are some of the things that peak my curiosity. You don't have to have a cell phone. I use mine for business and I am available 24/7 I like it that way. I don't have a smartphone but I will be getting one so I can run credit cards on it as soon as my contract is fulfilled with the old company. But for now I have a 5 dollar phone from best buy. pretty cheap but I didn't want to get a nice one quite yet. How far away are these guys you meet? if they are local you could just meet them at the corner store. The General Store there in Kent. But what happens if you get busy and need to let them know you cant make it? Please let me know. I'm worried already!!

I have a landline in my home to receive and make phone calls but more importantly for the 9-1-1 feature if I need an ambulance.
Cell phones do not have the 9-1-1 feature.
I also have a cell phone in case my car breaks down or should I get in an accident. Having skype or a computer at home isn't going to help me when my car gets hit by some whacko who was texting while driving.

To answer your two questions in this thread:
1. Is a cell phone necessary? Only a person who has a cell phone needs one. If you don't have a cell phone, you don't need one. Marketing has developed the art of making a luxury item into a necessary item. But it is not necessary.
2. You never contacted me, so I am one that would still have contacted you even though you do not have a cell phone. There are many others out there as well, so maybe it goes with the "kinds" or "types" of guys you are contacting or getting contacted by.
3. If they do not contact you after finding this out, count your blessings. What would they do if they found out something far more important to you that they didn't like? So count your blessings that they disappeared before it got to the level of becoming really hurtful and harmful to your emotions if they just upped and left when you were really connected with them or even in a relationship with them.

I don't think you are a freak because using technology is a matter of choice.
It's developed to make things be done easier. You don't have to use it if you dont need it.
I have a friend who has no cell phone. He is still very much happy with his life.
Oh well, I just hope that nothing bad happens when he's all alone in the middle of no where.

It sounds to me that these men want to see if his cell phone and her cell phone are a good match for each other. What the heck is wrong with people who's criteria to pursue a relationship is on whether someone has a cell phone. I think they are the freaks, not you...you're better off without them.
