Green_Sleeves: Think people suffer from a dis-connect these days, they reckon meat magically comes prepared in wrapping for their convenience

<---- vegetarian for the simple reason that I can be currently, and this way I am not partaking in what I have seen mass production and mass slaughter to be close up and personal.

Green_Sleeves: A bow?! A gun is a lot less hassle to be fair and probably a quicker, cleaner kill. I know which one I'd sooner die by anyway!

I've hunted on a few occasions, for rabbits. They never knew what hit 'em and the rabbits were used for food after!

Catibrae: Being a bow hunter, a good clean kill can be achieved, so why not use a bow instead of a Fire Arm?

Can be achieved but compared to a rifle you're more likely to injure rather than kill anything over the size of a rabbit.

I can see the appeal of it tho, having to stalk and get close enough instead of relying on the distance a bullet can travel.

The appeal can also be that bows could be somethng one can make one's self, while guns rely generally on a social infra structure for their production and bullets?

As such I always wanted to learn to make bows and how to use them, but I'd not shoot a living thing with them unless I'd have to in lack of other, probably kinder means.

A typical recurve bow can "loose" an arrow at over 100mph, a compound bow is much faster and with the right arrows they certain can kill an animal over the size of a rabbit.
There is a place in spain where you can kill a wild boar only with a bow...they charge 150 euro per day. A colleague went and got his boar and has the tusk and pictures to prove it.

That would be grand applause thank you heaps hug yay

Forest is starting right behind my property, so I'd have space to fire them arrows about and feel like Robin Hood giggle and while usually not keen on the idea on men in tights - I in tights with a bow is a different matter laugh

Using a bow has much more skill to it...after all in millennia gone by, they had nothing else to use except for a spear or a bow...I wonder how the human race survived....ireland
