stringman: It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible. George Washington
The quote is frequently misattributed to Washington, particularly in regards to his farewell address of 1796. The origin of the misquote is, perhaps, a mention of a similar statement in a biography of Washington first published in 1835. However, the quote that appeared in the biography has never been proven to have come from Washington.

Old George would turn over in his Grave like a Pinwheel if he saw what you have just attributed to him! Nowhere in the US Constitution does it state the the United States were founded on Christianity,NOWHERE! Show me the Article!

well...As Old George once said, "people are often misquoted on the internet.",,,
Treaty negotiated with the Muslim Barbary States during Washington’s administration:
"Treaty of peace and friendship between the United States of America and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli, of Barbary," most refer to it as simply the Treaty of Tripoli. In Article 11, it states:
"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Musselmen (Muslim); and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
this is a christian nation that was founded on values that was set up ny the founding fathers. the far left liberals demonize christianity and is trying to stamp out the christian religion in this nation. they dont harass the muslim faith which is trying to gain a foothold in this nation and because the left likes it. also in our schools the muslim faith is being stressed. the left are a bunch of heathens and athesists. that is why our nation is going down the tubes so fast. next thing will happen in this nations christians will be hounded just like the christians were persecuted during the roman times and eventually were killed

Cite me the relevant Article in your Constitution that says so!
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof".
It doesn't change that the traditional feeling of the majority is christian, but it's a fact, not a rule.

i see there is a whole bunch of foreigners that like to knock down christianty and this nation. with all due respect you all should concentrate on fixing ur own nation problems and see how religion is there. the last time i looked the muslim faith is gaining ground with all those muslim refugees living there. this nation had morals and should go back to them. that what made this nation great at one time along with guts and the will to protect our freedoms. now that idoit in the white house and the left wing secularists are trying to mold this nation after ur countries morality or lack of it
Yep, this supersede the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Government treaties and State Constitutions.
Maybe he should write for WMD.com.

I am a Christian, a patriot and a defender of liberty who tries to keep a sense of humor through the madness. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio and work in the banking industry. I'm blessed with a beautiful wife who homeschools our three children. It has become evident Washington now embodies the gravest threat to freedom. We must restore the vision of the founders before it is too late. This prompted me to begin writing. In addition to Forbes, my work has appeared on American Thinker, RealClearReligion and elsewhere. I'm also a contributing writer for The Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. My book, The Courage to do Nothing, will likely be the most politically incorrect take you'll ever read on economics.

GUZMAN1: In my country there is also people who wants to keep religion into the privacy of the homes.
I think that the state should be neutral on religion. It's the law. It means not to impose religion, nor erradicate it either.
Exactly! Apartheid was justified by the previous Christian National regime in South Africa and oppression and racial discrimination was preached and supported by some 'christian' churches here. We now have one of the most progressive constitutions in the world and our Bill of Rights guarantees freedom of religion and non-discrimination on the basis of religion or faith to all. Pity that so many other countries continue to seek to govern not only the country but the souls of its citizens, too...

Part of the reason I dont go to church any more is the realisation there were more monsters under that roof than outside of it.
Atheists arent monmsters. They may or may not be wrong but their creed is of love and tolerance. So was Christianity once. I'm staying out of church until it returns to that root.

You are assuming John when you talk of foreigners and I am not knocking down Christianity. I was as much for the Separation of State and Religion in the US as I am here. I never assumed that the US Constitution was based on religion nor do have a anti religious agenda. Religion is in your heart and it should stay there. As for secularism, it is protected along religion by the 3rd article of the Bill of Rights. It protects the freedom of religion and the lack or it thereof. Also, religion doesn't equate with morals. If you read carefully, these posts do not knock down Christianity, or any other religions, only the general constant religious slogans. It is called "preaching to the choir" on the "CS Site Suggestions & Feedback" and expecting praise and total accord.
