In my philosophy no you do not have liberty, your liberty is a delusion, but it's a delusion that no one can take from you.

The belief in free will is(scientifically)going the same way as the belief that man is the centre of the universe, and philosophically man's free will - which is unique to our species - is closely related to the idea that man is the centre of the universe.

Free will is primitive and backward and rationally unsound but altogether intuitive to believe in, and it is intuitive belief(not rational belief)which have most relevance to the real world. My philosophy is clever and accurate, but not very wise therefore I do not live by it.

imo and my philosophy 'liberty' is why we are all still here 2015 and is key imo why every thing came into exsistance, robots have no liberty/freedom of choice same with computers. even to have a thought is simply liberty freedom of choice, even a movement brings freedom of choice in the term of will, indirect freedom can be a blink of the eye...

Not a thing in daily life would make me argue that.

But when I listen to physicists, mathematicians, neuroscientists or simply look at the fact that history repeats all too often then my rational side knows that what my senses are telling me is wrong.

Now not being in control does not worry, but how this finding will come to be used by people(probably on the political Left)to make individuals unaccountable to their own actions does worry me. If the belief in free will disappears then the earth will come to resemble a creche even more so than it does already.

The lot of the poor will be better in the future. Extreme poverty may become a thing of the past, toil may no longer be necessary but greed and jostling for status will be made worse because of all of our wealth. The poor won't starve and they will not freeze, but the shame of being poor will be worse in a society so divided and unequal where technology allows the wealthiest to do the most wondrous things.

Groups of people used to bond over the common struggle to stay alive, tough times would bring people together, but when there is no longer this struggle everything will become about status, people will grow colder and more isolated, and there will be a loneliness so great in this world that you can see it in the hands of a ticking clock. The future will make life easier, not happier.

If you are talking physical liberty, then we have it to some degree, depending on our situation.

Mental/spiritual liberty is more important, and more personally achievable.

Liberty is a state of mind.

You can take my body, but you can't take my soul.
