MarsMan: Health insurance has gone up and up and up over the years, and what is the governments response? Make it cheaper? make the service better? Make sure that the insurance companies stop selling crap cover?
No, instead they threaten to make it more expensive if you don't sign up for it in the next month if you are over 35.
If you can't afford it now, how the hell do they expect you to afford it with an added levy, on top of the levy that is already on it?

Government, full of ideas and policies to make your life crappier.

There is talk about an getting health insurance all over Europe - I'll be on the first plane.

I have private health insurance and pay a fortune to get stuff done in Germany - it's just no comparison to here as there are check-ups etc. and not a 6 month waiting list if something isn't right.

Don't be daft, laugh that would require a quango, with a board of directors, loads of top senior managers, layers and layers of middle managers, multiple layers of administrative bureaucracy, self serving unions and that is before you get a single or nurse or doctor to even take a look at you........oh wait...... doh

I'm Irish, but spent 27 years in SA, Cape Town in particular, before coming home in 1997. I can honestly say I had the best time, fantastic childhood, great weather, great friends made that I still have regular contact with. I miss it at times, a lot.

Hope CT was good to you on your travels, Anna. I understand that to a tourist it must appear different, but to me it's going home.

Sadly, my accent makes me a continuous blow-in grin but I quite like being outside the norm applause

Oh our experience was a lovely one,, yes it was very different, but beautiful. I had seen a programme on Tv, a long time before we went there and thought, i would love to go on Table Mountain,, so did that and it was well worth a visit, so that is off my list now.We did the garden route,
Down to Port Elizabeth, stellinbosh winery, howts bay, etc, the food, restaurants, were amazing,, i have precious memories of my visit cheers

I'm delighted she was good to you; sadly, our Table Mountain is destroyed at present by horrific fire, the devastation to fauna and flora, the fallout to local communities, terribly sad.

the garden route is fab, and it seems you covered all the good spots... I miss it every day. My brother is leaving 18 March for a month's holiday there, and I am so jealous!

I'm so sorry to hear about Table Mountain, what a shame.

Was it caused by negligence, or other? .How long since you were there?
