Instinctively, a realist. If I can't "see" it, I don't believe it.
Probably why I don't read a lot of fiction....only non-fiction appeals to me.
Probably swing between being pessimistic to realistic to optimistic and back again, depending on factors happening in my life at the time. I do try to stay as positive as I can.

Ahh... so I'm assuming, u don't believe in ghost??
(I personally don't) but I'm wondering bout ur opinion on that... since u said (If I can't "see" it, I don't believe it.) so are u talking in general terms?? as in, not believing everything u r told?? I'm just on my way out, but, no....I don't believe in ghosts visually appearing, but have felt spiritual energy(entirely different).
I don't believe in UFO's. I haven't seen a space-ship with tiny men in them.
I don't believe Elvis still walks on this planet. I haven't seen him lately. He died.
I'm not going to head down the religious path with all this, because that is a feeling I have within my soul. I have my own beliefs, as we all do.

I gotta go.....it's a beautiful day outside(being realistic), and I'm going to the beach to enjoy a chocolate-coated ice-cream(being optimistic), before the rains probably arrive this afternoon(being pessimistic)....

I tend to expect the negative and enjoy being positively surprised by others. It's easier to live that way than to expect the positive and to be disappointed. There's the school of thought that says: if you expect the negative, people usually deliver, but I don't really buy that. There are a few gems out there who come through with flying colors and they are the ones I like to be around.

I have also found if u think and act positive it tends to engender positive reactions.

Nidifugous: Of course. I do act positively and also proactively, but my expectations of others are tempered. It all depends on the situation and circumstances, whether it's private or business, etc.
U generally expect from others what u expect of urself. If ur standards r to high other people will always be a disapointment.? That's life.

I am glad you did not mention pessimistic .. realistic is just normal though, isn't it...
My optimistic attitude though, comes from trying out new things, like planning a new landscape for my garden, and then believing that I can do it , against all odds, and making it happen..
If I was pessimistic, I would not even have a go,
Realistically, I often try out stuff to do, that is way beyond me, but somehow, I find the inner strength to bring out the outer strength, and then give it a go...
