Passed in 63, her voice was used in a late release of La Vie en Rose with Andrea Bocelli. Lady Gagme also made a decent recent try at performing this song.
Although these two may NOT be your cup of tea...their range, tone, pitch, and power are beyond comparison! I have seen both live and no video can compare. (And yes,...I an a classic rocker...most of the time!)
Female - Yam Sumac - The Peruvian Goddess Male - Ivan Rebroff - The Cossack Clown!

Alaways amazed at why they take away sports trophies for drug/steroid use, but never a single Grammy retracted for using crack! Just joking...WH was a TRULY wonderful and gifted singer!
For my money Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra - Closely followed by Peggy Lee. Nat "king" Cole who was no mean singer and a Jazz pianist as well. I also Like Dianna Krall, the late Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse.

I'm tossing in Anne Murray. Such a soothing voice. Anyone remember the coke a cola spinoff song comercial? I miss the 70's even though I was a kid then. Anne Murray's song."Id like to buy the world a home in perfect harmony"
