Report: Army helicopter downed by Turkish fighter jet Posted at 09:09 Turkish broadcaster NTV reports that a Sikorsky helicopter belonging to the army group attempting a coup has been downed by a Turkish military F-16 jet.
This is only one report so far, so we will bring you more on this when we get it.

Aragorn11: Informed sources are claiming the coup will fail. It seems to be at a lower level within the Army as none of the Armies leaders have made a statement.
There is both a curfew, and a call for people to go out onto the streets.

I hear that Australia have agreed to take 1 million refugees in order to lower the burden on Europe ... I always knew the Aussies were great sports.

"The White House has just released a statement on the reports of an attempted coup, saying that Barack Obama and secretary of state John Kerry “agreed that all parties in Turkey should support the democratically-elected Government of Turkey, show restraint, and avoid any violence or bloodshed”.
The state department will “continue to focus on the safety and security of US citizens in Turkey,” the statement added."

That was barmy Bill Shorten leader of the labour party, but they lost the election, not sure where a million people would fit here,
