It is based upon egotism and wrong beliefs.(I don't deserve it. It's not fair. etc...)
"Emotions aren't random. They follow from beliefs."
We always want to punish the 'offender' - not realizing the damage we are creating by being 'offended'.
Was the offense truly directed at you? or are you merely a party who was involved against your choice?
Is revenge the best route to go? If so, what is gained by it?
And as for 'hurt feelings' - can you show me the injury? It's about as absurd as 'saving electricity' ...Can you show me the saved amount?
Being offended consumes so much of our internal energy. It turns us into negative people that others don't want to be around.
Not to mention, that when we hold it as a threat over other people, absurd governments write lengthy documents about how to not offend people.

i agree 100%, ye cant make a joke no more without someone being offended. it is a complete waste of your own time being so sensitive. it breaths hate, groups people into rivals. i do not care for the opinion of anyone except those i know personally. being offended is also the needy wanting to be heard, its the perfect online world now for them.

No offense, Lindsy, but "narcissism", while NOT good, doesn't even QUALIFY, as a mistake, in today's world! It's commonplace, and common to common people! It's ALMOST "self-defense", today! Are you calling me a GOOD GUY, KL? DON'T do THAT! I MIGHT get to LIKE being liked! And THEN where would I be? ALL downhill, from there! I'm NOT a big advocate of "tough love". But it does have it's time and uses! You just need to be somewhat - OPPS! Here's that TERRIBLE word! - DISCRIMINATING, in who you use it on/with. DOESN'T work, on/for ALL!

The problem I see with being offended is that the "offendee" is in total control of the scale and degree. The offender has no clue where that tipping point may be! They will be guilty no matter what they do or say. It's a losing battle.
It's like a person who like the room "warm"... How warm is warm "enough"?

Maybe you are right Let but the reality of it all is that this big global conflict is driven by over valuing one's worth.
I am sure you know what I mean. What is up with greed and power shooting off from the vein of those narcissists that want to rule the world. Maybe if we truly look at the trend of the world's politics we come to realize that it doesn't even matter if we differ in race, religion and values. The truth is that these things are so easy to overcome provided we are willing to view life with universal human worth, that is eliminate anything that cause such rift and move on. But the underlying cause of this big thing? is all about greed and power. You don't get that unless you were narcissist in the first place.
