Bogart_1960: for sure, it is easy to see the clear objectives of those morons, and what they are here to do.

Europe will have to deal with immigration problem for sure. the solution is not "shooting" all those immigrants, as per lunatics, but we can not continue the "med operation" as it is now. The financial and social costs are tremendous.

Macron changing position and attitude is seen as positive in fact, as the problem needs to be addressed differently. Europe does need migrants for sure - fact.

Why Europe needs more migrants (future)

The problems was/is created by US and Russia, as usual, and we have to deal with the consequences of North Africa political instability, social repercussions. Both want: weak Europe.

Hope all is well with you
Yep all good here, had an excellent dinner with some visiting scholars, one from Barcelona, one from Nimes and one from Geneva, each brought some local wine/ cheese, so now I can't sleep lol

The way I see it is that Europe is having to cope with the direct result from the interference many countries had in Middle Eastern affairs going back to Pre WWII, what the UK and USA started with good intentions has collapsed, and then made worse with further messing around by US and Russia, therefore some responsibility needs to be taken by these countries.

Having said that, there also has to be limits, the UK is not a big country unlike France or Germany, so there cannot be the same limits applied to each one. What I don't understand is why the EU cannot sit down and work out a realistic way to take in and support these refugees EQUALLY across ALL member countries.
All the infighting and backstabbing is not solving the problem, it's making it worse.

The second problem as I see it, is the cultural differences, you cannot take someone from a third world environment and place them into a 1st world environment and expect assimilation without some education and instruction, Merkle open the doors without any regard to this, and by the time she realised her mistake it was too late.

I believe we (Europe) can and should help war refugees, but it needs to be carried out in a sensible and organised form.

Until the bureaucracy of Brussels is dismantled I cannot see that happening and the situation will just get worse.

I think you summarized the problem pretty clear, and I agree with your viewpoints in general terms, but a a few clarifications:

- Merkle open the doors without any regard - It iis not the reality, (but it has been used and abused -google Germ policies and how they work). Germany does need workers (low skill). .but Merkle does not have an open door. Thats a fact.

- Politics and common sense - we are asking too much
.
- bureaucracy of Brussels - "Brussels" does what all countries agree. no more nor less.

- EU cannot sit down and work out - all governments/countries need to agree. thats how EU works.

good wine and great cheese and interesting conversation- sometimes that's all we need.

Sitting here looking at a bottle of Calvados and the remains of some delicious Brie, both from Nimes, debating whether to have a quick bite and drink or go to bed, 4:30am here and 24 degrees.
so if I stop replying, I have either fallen asleep or fallen on the floor lol

Have these immigrant people asked you to afford and take them in? How many spare rooms have you got to give free rent and food and utilities and transportation too?
