unlaoised: As far as the flu vaccine goes, I agree totally. Besides, they can't pinpoint the exact strain for the coming season, so there's no point in it.
2intrigued: I can't have the flu vaccine but if I happen to get the flu, there is antiviral medication available in tablet form to help with symptoms.
Just for awareness
The benefits of vaccination Vaccination is different from giving medicine to an unwell child to make them better. The benefits of vaccination are invisible. The idea is that your child won't become ill with measles or end up in intensive care with meningitis. It may be tempting to say "no" to vaccination and "leave it to nature". However, deciding not to vaccinate your child puts them at risk of catching a range of potentially serious, even fatal, diseases. In reality, having a vaccination is much safer than not having one. They're not 100% effective in every child, but they're the best defence against the epidemics that used to kill or permanently disable millions of children and adults.

I'm only referring to the flu vaccine, not to vaccines given to children

Agree completely
I can't tell you how many people asked me, during the course of my recent chest infection, whether I'd had 'the flu injection'

The injection for the particular 2018 Flu viruses is 15% effective... The Flu Vaccine is only worth $3Billion to the pharmaceutical industry so they won’t invest too much into it. Would never get the injection...
ysabeljhen: laoised .Flu vaccines are given to adult and children.I shared it to be knoledgeable on the advantage of taking a shot if u read in between lines.
As Serene said, we're discussing the flu vaccine, specifically, not vaccines for children
