bigjb62: You assume all marriage counselors are going to be biased. I wouldn't disagree that some are. Having been married to someone who went to her friends and family for advice and lied to them in order to get the advice she wanted to hear so she could justify tearing apart the family and not look like the bad guy. Had she not refused couples counseling the outcome may have been different. Giving relationship advice to someone when you don't no both sides of the coin is more likely to be bad advice. I don't know how much more plainly I can say it.
