I don't believe in any form of power over anyone or thing. You have a brain, so you can think for yourself, hopefully? The ones who don't have a brain, can depend on who-ever, to take the lead, and they can follow!

If you do not live under a dictatorship or ?Monarchy, the whoever counts the votes in your country, they are the ones who have the power.
How head of State is Elizabeth however she doesn't interfere in the daily activities of our parliamentary democracy. The Governor General of Australia is her representative, and seldom interferes, though the GG did dismiss one Labor government it was dismissed because it didn't have the numbers to maintain supply. Not much in the way of rights is in Australian, exception is implied right to vote but that;s not always the case. Australian Constitution doesn't set out rights, but stipulates the election of and the separation between parliament and the judiciary, sets out the powers and limitations of government etc etc. Aunty Liz our head of State, in respect to constitutional matters does nothing , which is a whole lot better than some elected clown implementing decisions, which many countries including yours suffer from.
I don't think any democracy actually represents the peoples views, best as i can tell all politicians promote there own personal leanings, or leanings of a party they are members of. That includes America and Russia, Syria, Australia, New Zealand etc etc,
Bit different New Zealand's parliamentary democracy whose head of State is also aunty Liz. NZ has an unwritten Constitution based upon a Bill of Rights Act and leans i think, closer to the peoples interests than other forms of governance that i know of, save other than Bhutan...
