Usually an Irishman (and most other civilised men) will 'match the other' when shaking hands ... if you're receiving flabby handshakes then it's just a match to your own eh Flabster !
Because they don't really want to shake hands with you ......."where can I wash my hands quickly afterwards ?"passes through their mind .......take a hint .......a flabby handshake is saying .......yuck .
I would't know about Irish Handshakes as we kiss both cheeks here in Spain, no matter what Country you come from. I was talking to a friend that owns a bar here on our complex (Irish Guy) and I was telling him about the Irish Potato's ( The chocolate cinammon balls that you can buy in America re St Patricks Day) He had never heard of them. He said "The Americans celebrate St Patricks Day more than the Irish do) lol...........Game over hahaha.........

Could be because America has more Irish than Ireland does.
