Why would it be a problem dunno

I am getting sick and tired of the mentality that women only want men for their money.

Breaking News: We earn our own.

Any normal woman would be delighted if a man went to the trouble of preparing a meal for her.

There are few things that should be clarified here...
What a "fancy" date means?
Is his financial situation permanently in the low or just a little temporary struggle...?
Romance is romance but I wouldn't like to drag someone along, financially, as I won't allow anyone drag me...
Money isn't a dirty word...
We should stop pretending we can live on bread and tap water...
I'd rather not hear this (financial) reason for inviting me on a romantic dinner in his back yard...
Because I wouldn't like to date someone who complains about his finances on a first date...

This is not about complaining about women, its about a romantic meeting. Just wondering who would like it.

Track, I know you didn't mean it like that.

But when they word it' Can't afford to take you on a fancy date' it implies that women expect to be always taken on fancy dates.

I found in my experience that most would prefer what was in the picture over a fancy date. Its the thought put into it.

That is a fancy date, isn't it?

Care, thought, effort, pleasant surroundings, a certain amount of privacy, presumably quiet.

I'd much prefer that to a busy indoor restaurant with strangers hovering around asking me if everything was alright just as a green bean had flipped sideways in my mouth. laugh

And isn't the company the whole point of a date?

Although I baulk at shooting rats at the local dump, it would be the company of someone who wanted to shoot rats for fun that would bother me most.

I like both laugh

I like food food whether it be in a good restaurant or home made.

Sometimes I like to go out for a meal, sometimes a picnic.
I wouldn't like having to permanently choose between them though. I like both.

It also implies that men have expectations placed upon them, but not necessarily by women.

I'm sure most fancy businesses aren't going to complain about media images projecting the idea that dates must be fancy to be acceptable, or successful.

Men put high expectations on themselves too.

A male friend of mine was getting on very well with a new woman with expectations of a relationship coming out if it. Then he lost his job.
He gave up on the potential relationship as he told me he couldn't pursue it without a steady income. I doubt he told the woman that. If he had she would no doubt have told him it made no difference. A picnic with the right person is better than a posh restaurant with the wrong one.
Men have to learn that.
