No, but some people do not have a right to keep them due to keeping pets in sickening conditions and treating them with extreme cruelty.

I have no time for exploitation of any living creature.
Neither do I believe in making them more human.
People forget the fundamental difference between animals and humans. Now read the labels on the tins like “lamb hotpot”....
Over the years my dogs rarely ate any food out of a tin. I’ve lived with domesticated and wild animals/creatures all my life.

Surely we wouldn't deprive the old man and cat lady of even that. This is one for the grandkids assuming there are any. Leave it to generation zorg to drift further away from all life on earth.

So I guess my point was I never really kept her. On a cold night if I didnt submit to her screaming and storm door rattling that echoed across the house, she wouldnt hesitate to go any neighbor to elicit their compassion and sappy grunts of love on her poor abused soul.

Your cat was a product of what you made it.
My dog? Useless as an alarm ..... she doesn't bark and she would rather lick you to death rather than growl. Strangers??? Not in her book, she'll climb up with anyone who happens to come in to her house and sit on her couch.
She has 3-4 coats to wear outside in the winter so she doesn't get cold after her grooming session. She sits in the front seat of the car - with the seat warmers on - and thinks she's the queen of the castle. She goes to bed at 9:30pm and expects everyone else to do so.....spoiled little crackie!
But in a few more years, all my chicks will have left the next and my dog (and the other or 2 I intend to get) will be all that I have to spoil and pamper.
You want a good pet? Don't torture them as babies, treat them with respect and you'll have a great friend and companion for many, many years.

By the way...my cats are outside, in sometimes. The toms fight. So this spring one tom BW disappeared. Then a second one Patch about 2 months ago. The old ma who started this herd, disappeared, came home, then gone for 3 weeks. So I fear they met up with coyotes. Ma came home! Patch came home. And today BW CAME HOME. So now if pets hate being pets, why did free range cats who lived off the land all summer, want to come home to me?
