Popularity of a sport is social brain washing.
In my country no one cared about biathlon before but TV rights where cheaper then slalom and icehockey so now people like it and we are sucsessful in it.
Baseball must be the most boring team sport ever invented! Even curling is morse fun to watch. But then I am not a brain washed American. My addiction is icehockey.
