Scotney: I recently taught my 82 year old mum how to make soup.

What's your favourite soup? I'm looking for new ideas.
It's so sweet to read that you take the time to teach your Mum how to make her soup... My favorite one is chicken soup, and I eat it almost all the time... It's delicious...
I put a little bed of finely chopped celery in a stock pot... Then, I add a layer of brocoli flowerets... After that, I place two whole chicken breasts... Then, I cut two green bell peppers, two zucchinis, three potatoes, two carrots, four onions; all of them, finely chopped... After that, I add water to cover all the ingredients and cook it until the breasts are super soft... Then, I take the chicken breasts out, and separate them in bite size pieces/chunks... I return them to the pot and I add a little more water, if needed (Depends on your Mum's taste)... When that new water starts boiling, I turn off the heat and add like 3/4 cup of finely chopped fresh cilantro... I stir it and let it rest for like 20 minutes... D-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s... I don't use salt or any seasonings, because to me, it does not need them, but, as I said, it depends on your Mum's taste and preferences... bouquet

bodleing2: My favourite at the moment is chestnut mushroom and hazelnut soup. Or I sometimes use cashew nuts instead of hazelnuts.
You set me off with that recipe, but I make it with chestnuts instead of hazelnuts.

It's awesome. smitten

laugh I had to google the difference between soup and stew. And yes I do believe you are right. It does appear to look more like a stew. I really love to cook. I always considered it a form of art. blues I don't use recipes usually, nor do I have names for all my dishes. But there is something about cooking good food and seeing others appreciate it. A simple way to spread a little cheer. bouquet

I so do relate to how you feel about cooking..I love to cook..I love to experiment..I don't follow recipes at all 7 like you I too have no names for many things I cook..I do enjoy entertaining here at home when my friends come over or my son & his mates..Living alone I don't experiment as much as when my son was at home.

I loved to cook cakes & cupcakes making them all very pretty as well as melt in your mouth moments

You will have to post pics of your next adventure bouquet
