I can't answer that, but I wish I could. I do sometimes associate some things with other things, while being completely unaware of any logical connection between them, but I don't think I've ever associated a sensory experience with falling in love.
Does the scent of sawn birchwood have any particular significance to you, Tule, or is it one of those things that just is?

Once upon a time... sports lager - youth in different kinds of sport gathered together by the powers in charge for 4 summer weeks. I (14) had a promising start (running short distance), he (15) had a promising push leg (high jump). We had climbed from windows after the "lights out" a couple of... well, a few times, to go to the nearest lake and swim. We could (and did) swim in it at day time, but it wasn't the same.
He was one of the team, that saw and chop the wood for the final camp fire. I was one of the team, that prepared food: cut bread and vegetables, threaded meat on the skewers.
We kissed a few times.
No, nothing significant. Mommy has nothing to worry about :)

That's lovely, Tule, I wish I had something like that in my memory archives.
secretagent09: The smell of ocean waves is euphoric for me
I do love marine scents. Iodine, a little shellfish decomposing somewhere nearby, tar warmed by sun... I have no problem to fall in love to it. Where's my Sinbad?

Well... he injured his push knee beyond repair the next winter. And I eventually got spinal cord injury. We become promising-once-upon-a-time and I joint this site. I suspect, there's a lot of my kind.
Tulefell: Lilac in full bloom and Rahmaninov, I totally can fall in love to it
It's a really older person type of music but I love strangers on the shore by Aker Billick....that on a summers evening sipping cocktails by the pool and I'm totally in the mood for love
It's beautiful and on our second date he took me to the beach and we watched the sunset to this music....it was the best date I've ever had...just beautiful
For me it's the smell of newly sawed wood (birch?) and the smoke of an open fire (campfire?)
Not anyone scent in particular. If falling in love was a scent, definitely his natural scent. If I don't fall in love with his scent, if I can't breathe and taste his scent, and breathe his breath when we kiss, then he does not stand a chance as he won't be able to get anywhere near me,. Can't stand aftershave ...

Lilac is timeless and ageless. This is one of few scents I'm going to miss when I've died :)
